I've been here a couple of weeks and seem to have developed a health issue. I have no energy and have lost my appetite. I had mild constipation, but just took a big shit, At least I know its not dengue fever. I want to buy penicillin. However, I don't know if I need a doctor's prescription or whether it can be purchased over the counter at a pharmacy. Does anyone know of any doctors in Pattaya, preferably located in the area of the Avenue Mall? Also, does anyone have an idea of what is wrong with me? Teerak thinks it's job related stress.

Worrying about it will only make it worse, I'm sure it's nothing serious.

There is a small clinic across from the Avenue called Dr Prasan, or if you are overly concerned head up the road to the Pattaya Memorial hospital by the junction of 2nd Road and Pattaya Klang Road.

Thanks. One thing I now know is that you can buy penicillin here over the counter without a doctor's prescription.

Sounds like you got a Virus that all and you really do not need to give yourself Meds that either will make no difference because you do not need them or have something the Meds you talk of taking will not work on anyway.

If you are worried get yourself down the Hospital pay to see a Doc tell whats up get some piss and blood work done and go on his advice which will be better than.you self treating or 95percent of this Forum.

Cost should be no more with meds if you need them 1,200 Baht

If you cant be bothered doing this up your fluid intakes including OJ take plenty of rest eat small light meals and see how you go over next 3 or 4 days

Thanks. I've been doing some research and it seems that I may have a urinary infection, or at worst, a prostate problem. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow.

From Soi Diana enter Soi Bukhao to the right. On the left side after almost 50 meter there is new Pattaya city hospital. I believe it is cheap as well. Also in Soi Bukhao from Soi Diana if you turn left, after 200 meter there is a good day massage, right in front of it there is Bikhao Clinic. I advise you not to become your own doctor. You better see a doctor it will not cost you more than few hundred baht, at least you get a proper medication.

I have not heard about Dr Oliver before, but if anything, I'ld go with Ghost MEDIC. I"ld go straight to a hospital, not to a clinic. Mostly because you are gonna have to get  your blood tested or X-rays for other problems and figure it's more of a one stop shop. In the past I've gone to clinics before, to end up in a hospital l8r on anyway.

There is an old Philipino Doctor in Soi 4 off 2nd Road.  It is Soi 4 on the opposite side of 2nd Road to Soi 6 -6/1.  Her name is Doctor Belham.  She speaks perfect English and charges around 500 baht per visit.  Her office is about 150m up from 2nd Road on the right hand side.

Once she knows you and where you live, she will also do house / hotel calls in the problem worsens.

You're right. I went to the Bangkok Hospital this afternoon.

I had similar symptoms on my first trip.  I believe it was a Bronchitis related issue as I had the air con on too high in my condo then went out into the heat, back into the cold,  now I try and keep the room around 26-27.  I ended up going to Bangkok-Pattaya hospital and that cost me 6500 Bhat,  ouch !

It cost me 20K yesterday to have a colonoscopy at he Bangkok Hospital in Pattaya because I exhibited two of the signs of colon  cancer. Fortunately, the results came back negative. Since I was supposed to do this in the US, and it would be covered under my health insurance, it serves me right

I got very sick my last trip and after passing out cold in the street I was taken by ambulance to hospital. I stayed over night and had several blood test, a lung x-ray, a CT scan, and medications. the total price was less than $800US. It is nice to know that there are English speaking doctors in clinics around town. Thin girls !

Do a course of Augumentin duo it contains amoxicillin and clavulonic acid and is a broad spectrum anti biotic and will take care of all infections.

Living sober, clean and staying away from loose women doesn't make a man live any longer. It just fucking feels like it.

I use Dr. Olivier Meyer in Soi Day and Night, now Boutique Hotel near Tut Com.

Swiss and as such speaks several languages. He even prescibed an older medicine that I had been taking, because the new one was not availabile at the time. Worked perfectly. Of course everything very reasonable by western standards.
