DSI help sought to crack down mafia in Phuket

Tourism and Sports Minister Somsak Pureesrisak filed a petition to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), asking for its help in cracking down mafia gangs in Phuket.

... an interesting development ... the Thai government "appears" to be responding to petitions submitted the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the diplomatic missions of 18 EU nations and Australia a few weeks ago.

... the DSI mightg put on an interesting show in Phuket ... the interminably corrupt Thai government has so far shown no real successes at steming the widespread growth in corruption in Thailand ... the call to clean-up the Phuket mafia would normally be reported only for appearances sake ... Thai values: appearances matter more than content.
