airfare price after a crash

I usually fly asiana on my trip from the states to bkk. Ive never had a bad experience with them, and love their customer service. Im cheap as hell, but essentially I will pay a little extra to fly with them. I was getting ready to book my flight for around 1400 bucks for a flight in November, then there plane accident happened.

I thought (in bad taste) that their airfare would go down to help negate some people deciding to go away from asiana due to the bad press of the accident. Instead it seems like their prices have gone crazy upwards. Im still getting korea airlines at around 1400 and they are usually the same ballpark price as asiana, so its not like the price of oil or some other factor has all airlines raising prices.

In the past has anyone noticed after an accident if an airline usually increases or decreases the cost of ticket after an accident? Or did you notice no change?

Thanks guys.

Interesting thoughts.

I don't know the answer but it would seem strange for them to raise the price as you said.

I think if I were running an airline then I would want to keep it "business as usual" price wise.

reminds me of the robin williams move, the world according to garp, when they were house hunting and the plane slammed into the front of the house...  Robin said "we'll take it"  "what are the chances of THIS happening again?"

Yikes the prices are terrible! I flew Asian from Seattle R/T January return March for $875. Hopefully they will have a sale at some point. Their prices do seem to change for no particular reason. What city do you fly from?

I got my ticket today for the same price as last time I paid. It seems asiana prices went up for a little bit, and now they went back down to average/cheapish. I jumped on the price as Id rather pay a fair deal and fly on my preferred airline, then try to save another 100 or 2 and instead the price skyrockets again and im left flying china or an American airline .
