Shouldn't be a problem when flying in from Philippines or Cambodia?

Hi. So. Before reaching my final destination to retire Pattaya, I'm going to be in Phils and Cambodia for approximately 6 to 8 months.

Am I faced with a problem when applying for O visa once I reach Thailand and later applying for retirement visa?

 

Was thinking about attaining O visa before leaving states here but since I'm going to be traveling throughout ..SEA, I don't think it's a good thing?
