A well-known temple in Chiang Rai has helped a Russian mother and her daughter after the mother’s husband to hurry back to Russia, which left the two with no hand-money, which made the temple’s provost offer them a job at an almshouse.

CHIANGRAI – July 12,2013 [PDN]; Journalists from Chiang Rai had reported that a picture emerged online showing that a foreign woman and daughter went to the Huay Plakang Temple pleading for help from the monks at the temple. This became a hot topic online, people around Thailand appreciated that the temple had helped the couple.

The Russian woman that came to the temple with her 2 year-old daughter was identified as Mrs. Anna, who came to visit the Northern region of Thailand. She said that her husband needed to immediately hurry back to Russia, which left herself and her daughter alone, with no cash money. This made her ask for help from locals, they then directed Mrs. Anna to the Huay Plakang Temple, where the provost had allowed them to stay at the temple and offered Mrs. Anna a job at the almshouse in order to give her some money to fend herself and daughter.

Recent reports say that Mrs. Anna’s husband has now contacted her and has transferred money to her bank account. She said that she was extremely grateful and that she couldn’t thank the temple enough for letting her stay at the temple even-though she wasn’t Buddhists nor Thai.
