Good sim card data plan for 1 month stay?

Will I be able to keep my thai sim card and use it for another trip in let's say a year, or will it be cancelled and I need to get a new number?

get a few top up cards, mine is by now valid till december 2014

I have 12call by AIS. When I top up 1000baht, it is good for a year from that date.

On one trip, a friends did not work and he thought he had a few months and balance from previous trip left.

They told him even though good for year it was cut off after no use for 3 months.

They added balance he had left from before to his new sim.

After that, every couple months between trips, I sent one text to my US phone and that has not happened to me.
