Is it just me or does Pattaya have a higher than average suicide rate?  Every other week I read about some guy taking a leap off the condo patio or swallowing a bullet at the Jomtiem shooting range.

I guess it comes down to 2 things.

Pattaya would be one of those places where many dreams come to an abrupt end.  The romance is over, or the money ran out, or both.  Cheap booze/drugs, depression or some other form of mental illness, a seemingly unresolvable situation, a bad decision in a mind-altered moment, and bang!

I really can't comment on other parts of the World, but here in Australia suicides are not reported in the news if it's at all avoidable.  The theory being that if you don't publicise self-terminations, they will occur less often.  The ones that do hit the news are those that occur publicly or where someone can't resist the urge to ring the press.

The last stat's on suicide in Australia from 2009 show that 6 people in Australia kill themselves every day, and the figures would be higher now in 2013.  That's ignoring the number of people who try and fail, which number in the hundreds each day.  We don't see any of that in the news.

Just waiting for the poster who will say it was Murder now :GoldenSmile1:

RIP whoever he was, poor Bastard

It seems like the guy wanted to be found so I would think he would have some ID on him too.

If I was a criminal it seems like there isn't much investigation into folks found hanging or jumping....just saying.
