I could spend hours searching these extensive forums or see what I can learn via this post. First time to Pattaya this August (first time out of USA!). Is it possible to pre-book a decent, quiet, girl-friendly hotel close to the action (Walking Street/Beach Road)  for around 30-40 USD or less a night? Going for about a month. Thank you.

Just use a hotel site such as Agoda or Booking.com - they will let you define you searches by budget and location and will have far more listed.

You can assume that a hotel in Pattaya is guest friendly, and make a simple search to double check (or email them direct).

soi buckow or LK Metro area :GoldenSmile1:

I have a Problem..... I just can't decide if its a good problem or a bad problem...

I don't believe you will find anything decent on BR or WS for that price.

Why don't you aim for something around Soi Baukhao instead - It's easy to get the action from there.

You'd be looking at a guesthouse (rooms above a bar or restaurant) for that prices or perhaps somewhere like Sutus Court 1 (which I find perfectly adequate) or one of their cheaper buildings if you are really trying to save. They have a pool too (not that common in the price range).

The Sabai Group's hotels in North Pattaya (sort of the other end of town to WS - but not really a hassle to get to and close to Soi 6) are also about in the upper level of your price range. Check Agoda by searching under "Pattaya" with "Sabai" in the "name contains" field.

If you are really game, you could stay on Soi 6 at the Queen Vic or Ruby Club or something - hope you are a heavy sleeper. I don't know if I'd recommend it for someone who'd never been before. LOL.

why not use AirBNB? You can get a nice private apt that you can bring girls too all you like for the same money as a shit hotel. Some good deals on there! I was looking at a studio condo near Soi Bukhao for around $15-20/night. A lot of people will do monthly or weekly rates as well.

30 to 40 $ a night, is that about 900 to 1,200 baht a night?  If that is right, you can get hotels that are OK easily in August.  In Pattaya you don`t need to be in any specific location as long as it is on a baht bus route to be able to access all areas easily.  Action as you put it is everywhere in Pattaya and the best thing that you can do is to spend a lot of time reading PA and researching all the areas.  If you have any specific area in mind after your research, then look at hotels around that area, I am sure you will easily find one in August.

My regular hotel is girl friendly, easy to walk to beach road or second road for baht bus, provides decent breakfast and is very clean and all for 800 baht a night in low season ( May to end of October ).  Don`t expect five star hotel but many are comfortable and I am very happy there as i stay at least 6 or 7 times every year.

Try the Jasmine hotel on Soi BJ, just off Walking Street. Works fine for me.

I recommend the Areca Lodge on soi dianna.. great location, good hotel and guest friendly.. Some guys are recommending the jasmine on Walking st.. That is like staying in the middle of non stop action.. The Areca has two swimming pools and you are in the epicenter of central pattaya.. Everything is close by.. A little more pricey than your budget, but the hotel  always makes the trip to Thailand,, Well worth the extra 15 or so  dollars a day..

You take a look at the Inn of the Golden Crab on Soi 13 (great location) They do weekly and monthly rents and look like they're in your price range.

I am satisfied with P.72 in Walking Street opposite Lucifer.

It is a little bit getting on in years, but you can reach all the gogos, bars and discos near Walking Street within 1 to 5 minutes, BR 10 minutes.

Rates (as far as i remember):

800 baht old room (carpet)

900 baht new room (tiles).

There are rooms to the road side (light and noisy) and backside (darker and quiet)

Rooms have of course big bed, ac, fridge, tv, shower. No safebox in room.

No visitor fee, but ID-Check (Staff calls you if everything is ok when the lady is leaving).

Sunshine hotel on Soi 8. Make reservation for the Residence wing on a high floor. GREAT location and good food in the restaurant below with laundry just a bit down the cross street straight out the front door.

Very good location for a fellow American on a first trip.

I didn't see any comments about Secrets hotel.  After looking at their website, they seem to have good rooms and good prices.  Anyone have any experience with Secrets hotel?

P72 is a great hotel (the only thing missing is a swimming pool (but you can pay 100 baht to use pool at another hotel).

Room rates 650(small room)-950(big room with view) baht

http://www.p72hotel.com/roomrates.html

Jasmine hotel on soi BJ is also a great hotel (includes a nice but very small pool):

850 baht lowest priced room? Definitely less than 1000 baht but not sure exact amount.
