Flew over yesterday on one of their new planes from Heathrow to BKK

I have to tell you it was all spot on and I would go as far as to say better than Thai Air and that's saying something coming from me

£600 great price

Seats comfortable and I'm a big guy

Food was great

The air hostesses were stunners

Even a really up to date progress map

Complete overhaul from top to bottom

Also remember for direct flights and staying over a month they will always be the cheapest

Thumbs up from me

Flew Eva Air last Feb and plane was a bit careworn, the service was good but not quite to the standard received on Thai previously.

Have booked next 2 trips Sep and Nov both with Thai even though there was a £30 difference and am tempted by Eva as for Feb 14 trip they are £50 cheaper at present. Most I have paid for Thai is £605.

As I said had the same view as you if you can get on one of the new planes then go for it

Did u fly in economy?

Which new plane was it.. a380?

Flying return to BKK twice a year EVA is always my first choice of airline.Consistently the best deal direct on Skyscanner they get my business for trips already booked this October and next April (as well as last March).

You can log out anytime you like but you can never leave.

Thats good to hear! I'm booked on EVA for september, first time I have used them for a while. They used to be my first choice but with high prices and  stories of poor service and cancellations I think they took their eye of the ball for a while. Hopefully they are getting their act back together, I'm looking forward it!....

edit:

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I reserved my seat online the other day and was suprised how many were already taken. Seems the flight is nearly full (in economy) some 8 weeks in advance so they must be doing something right!

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

Good to hear!

I am booked on EVA for the return leg of my next two trips -- the departure time was MUCH better than other airlines.

Proper flat beds now in business as well , apart from their flight times , their offering is now much better than Thai

If it floats, flies or fucks It's probably cheaper to rent ...

Sorry I thought we were talking "cattle class" and puzzled about flight times, most do mirror their biggest competitor Thai.

It's the lunchtime flight leaving Swampy I hate , Thai leave just after midnight

Different strokes for different folks, I prefer that time back home in time for work next day, had my good bye "quiet night" with my girl saved a day of holiday and better still easy traffic in the evening. Eva offer almost exactly the same flight times I choose and can be £30-£50 cheaper but still choose Thai for service, even in "cattle class".

Depends upon where you're going.

I just noticed that on their website that Thai has added a flight leaving at around 2:30 p.m. to LA on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays.  I don't recall seeing that one before, and, for some reason, it doesn't come up when you run a search on Kayak.

I was aware of a Thai flight around 7 a.m., but that requires departure from Pattaya to the airport at about 3:30 a.m. (if not earlier).  There is a very late night Thai flight, but you're looking at an 8-10 hour layover in Seoul.

EVA has one that departs BKK at around 5:20 p.m. (17:20), with a reasonable connection time in Taipei.

Before I switched to the EVA flight, I was on a Cathay flight leaving at around 8 a.m.  Switch gained me a good night's sleep, a morning bang and a relaxed lunch before I head to BKK.

Apologies there is a "crossover" most of the posts where about UK flights, I do not envy the punishing flight duration you experience from USA , it makes our worries "pale" to your endurance to get to LOS.

EVA is my preferred carrier from the US - the prices are favorable, the seats far more comfortable (than say "China Airlines"), the the connecting flights are superior (sorry Korean Air and Aisiana). From SFO to BKK it is a 19 hr flight there and a 16 hour flight back - hard to beat.

EVA joined the star alliance last year (?) - wish they were less stingy with the flyers club memberships though - (14 hours to Taipei - I really want a shower).

For US travellers leaving from the left coast, EVA is a good choice, though midwest and easterners probably have a less arduous trip with United/JAL (despite the awful layover in Narita).

EVA became a member of Star Alliance effective June 18 (a few weeks ago)

Depends on what style Thai business you get.  The new EVA seats definitely look better than Thai offerings.  They look just like Cathay Pacific's seats, but the new Thai A380 business looks like the staggered Emirates layout with flat seats too.  The older Thai Royal Silk business had those annoying 170* beds that felt like you were constantly sliding out of it.  Had that on the last leg of my last trip to LOS.

Yeah those 170 "Flat" beds are feckin awful. Eva's old one's were just as bad. I still need some Star Alliance miles this year so was gonna book onto Thai as they were brining in the A380 with the new seats on the London route but now that's delayed but Eva have introduced their new seats it might be an alternative. However I think Eva only qualify for 150% miles instead of Thai's 200% ho hum. There's also the history Eva have of randomly cancelling flights if they aren't full enough which doesn't endear me to them.

What time does the Eva flight get into London and what terminal.

Flight outward leaves around 21.30 hours from terminal 3 LHR and gets into Bangkok around 15.40pm the next day. Inward flight leaves around 13.00 hours from BKK and gets into LHR terminal 3 around 19.10 same day.

I was worried about this so monitored EVA's departures on flightaware for a few weeks. While I was monitoring there were NO cancellations and departure times were consistantly good. In same period (around may/june) Thai cancelled about a dozen flights! http://www.thaiairways.co.uk/news/2013/04/flights-cancellations-in-may-and-june-2013/#.UdvaQW18yCg
