4 Monks Caught Taking Drugs At A Well – Known Sattahip Temple

Local people had complained to Sattahip District Authorities over four monks that were taking illegal drugs. The four monks were reported to act inappropriately after taking the drugs, which made it obvious to locals.

SATTAHIP – July 5,2013 [PDN]; A team of police officers and navy soldiers went into a temple for a spontaneous urine testing of 15 monks, after locals had complained to district authorities that at least 4 to 5 monks were taking illegal drugs. 5 out of the 15 monks were caught consuming illegal drugs.

The 5 monks admitted that they did take drugs, they claimed that they bought the drugs from local teenagers. After police questioned them, they were taken to the abbot and were removed from the monkhood. They were the taken to the Sattahip Naval Base were they will undergo a drug rehabilitation program.
