Wow this place sells out quick! Glad I booked last month for December.

Looking now there's not much available already.

Vowed I wouldn't stay there again, but the new wing looks so good.

And can cancel for full refund later if plans change.

Hopefully they got rid of the f'ing bitter ladyboy front desk supervisor.

Sounds like the Evergreen wing - was my preferred stay whilst in town. Never saw a ladyboy at the desk

Location location location !

Why did you vow to never stay there again?

Other than the age policy, a fantastic place. Always booked solid.

So far the age policy has not worried me, apart from the odd 19yo, I find them hard work but I am an old guy so the novelty has worn off a little, I prefer the girls who know what it is all about.

After 4 years of what was great budget accommodation the last stay, they could not get the stink of the previous occupant out of the room,  they changed the linen and pillows and even the bed I spent a fortune on air fresheners, Fabreze  etc. Then realised the smell had even permeated the curtains.

I upgraded to Areca and have not looked back and yes it gets booked early particularly the start of high season.

Keep checking back though, there are a lot of dreamers out there who book rooms that then become available. I have just cancelled my previous booking and re-booked saving £40.

If you purchase an ace club card, you will get more savings.

Sounds like the previous occupant passed away in the room,

I have stayed in a room before in Sydney and the place stunk, tried everything (vinegar) .

i stayed there 3 times, last time i also decided not to return. the old wing start to feel its age, and i got a really stinky room. thy changed it and the second one smelled of dampness. only that third room was ok. also, the service went down the hill, i like a smiley staff at my hotel (after all it is LOS) and in my last visit thy all had long face and an attitude.

switched to page 10 hotel on soi 10, a little bit more money but new and impressive hotel and a great staff that was very helpful and pleasant.

How you saved 40 quid, because of the changed exchange rate? Or you booked a cheaper room?

I was there in May, stayed in the old wing, moved out after 3 days due to the building work that started at 6.30 every morning directly under/beside my balcony, they are builiding a large condo complex to the rear of Areca and work is scheduled to go on through next year. If you can put up with the noise the location is spot on.

I reckon most who stay there have booked in advance not realising about the construction next door.

Sounds crazy to go on holiday and put up with noise at 6:30 every morning even if the location is great.

Areca is still very popular so it doesnt surprise me it sells out fast. A lot of this is due to it being a hotel people started using years ago and so very probably gets a lot of repeat customers.

Page 10 is also often at capacity.

There will always be hotel rooms available but the better ones will fill first so if you want your "first choice" then advanced booking is a good idea. If you are not so bothered there will always be walk ins available.

Yeah, if you don't mind setting your bottom limit to 20-year-olds, which seems fair enough (but too young for me anyway)  My personal preference is for a woman, not a girl, and my happiest memories of that area are with some early 30s women who surely know their way around a man by this point…

Of course, YMMV… to each their own (legally…)

+1 the young ones know what to do, they just don't know how to do it. Way to much drama. Starting to go for a little older myself.

you won't be disappointed.

Getting the pool side rooms is best choice at the moment. Just came back last week stay in Corona deluxe poolside room and it was very clean.   If you're in the Evergreen would be better as you can still hear music until 2am at the front of the hotel.

The desk stuff are ok one or two are a bit  of smart arse  but one night time man was a bit rude and the ladyboy staff actually help me out getting my lady in my room as she has trouble with her I.D card after that everything was fine.

I would stay again but looking for low price high season condo or hotel with kitchen next trip for new years eve .

Staff Day Time good at Areca and stayed for the first time a Couple of Nights ago, Night Time Staff Rude. Did not try the Evergreen part as that was fully booked out.

Not a Fan of the Cable TV Selection.

But was amazed at how Quiet the Room was to Sleep in at Night given the location so that is a positive.
