First up im not a great tennis fan,i like to know whos won at Wimbledon but I haven't watched a single game so far this time,The reason im posting this is because im surprised there hasent been any topics on Wimbledon so far.

Is it because we just arnt that bothered about tennis in general, admittedly we brits haven't had anything to get exited about for years. Then Andy murray appeared on the scene who happens to be vey very good, and then comes out with `that remark`and alienated a section of English supporters who would otherwise would have been wholeheartedly supporting him instead of now not caring that much.Dont get me wrong I know it was meant as a bit of a joke but if he could change things I reckon he wouldn't have said it.The Wimbledon crowd still wants him to win so in the grand scale of things it hasn`t meant to much to them.

Do you like tennis or couldn't you give damn.

I like watching tennis in general and especially Wimbledon mens singles .  Watching it now ,semi final  with the giant Pole leading Murray in the 3 rd set .

Top athletes at their peak has to be decent sport .

Can't say the same for the womens game though ,  Screechanov playing pattacake with Shriekanova is a serious bore .

I loved to watch (and play) tennis when I was a kid, but -- not to date myself -- those were in the days of McEnroe, Connors, Borg, etc..

These days, I might watch for 15-30 minutes if I stumble upon it, but I make zero effort to watch it.

If asked to name the top American mens tennis player these days, I wouldn't have a clue.

Couldn't really give a damn - jaded with alot of televised sport even if the player is representing home country - in reality another group of professional atheletes promoting themselves and increasing their bank balance in the media obsessed sports arena. Don't mind watching the best of the worlds players but will not 'buy' into it (mainly referring to the 'shirt' phenomenon of team sports) or paying to view it. (Fortunately Wimbledon is terrestrial television).

Since Andy Roddick retired i think Sam Querrey ( who's he ? )  is their top player or maybe James Blake

John McEnroe says its a disgrace that they have not a single player in the worlds top 20 .   Loved watching Mac play , plus Connors , then later Jim Courier and Pete Sampras .

Since you asked I don't care about tennis at all.

I would much rather prefer to watch another big sporting event happening right now.

The 100th Tour de France...

Unfortunatley the credibility of any cycling event is now at an all time low .

Jan Ullrich the latest to say  " we were all on something , you had to be , to compete ".

Shame that a great spectacle like the tour can be devalued

Don't care.

I don't understand what's interesting in watching sports on TV.

Shit, why did I clic on this thread...

Tennis is for newbies :GoldenSmile1:

One cannot help but admire Murray's achievement on reaching the final again but should he win, I fear the SNP north of the border will try to maximise "Scotland's great victory on English soil" and use it for political gain if they can, with the upcoming referendum.

Politics and Sport never mix.

Apparently Murray said that he was "proud to be British" after his Olympic victory, but he has been courted my Salmond and co. I am not sure of his political views but for me if Wimbledon was won by a British tennis player who no longer wants to be British it would leave a sour taste in the mouth.

Fair play to him if he wins it.

IF ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL WHERE IS THE REST OF MY PENIS?

Having regrets is my biggest problem, I never want to say I wish I could have done that...

Tennis is boring to watch but fun to play.

Potential cringeworthy moment to the max.

Andrew Murray is trying to become the firstBritish player since Fred Perry in 1936. I am very surprised by the apathy shown by British BMs on this thread.

Getting to the finals last year was a tremendous achievement. Doing it again this year is outstanding and if he wins it will be one of Britains biggest sporting achievements this century. You guys need to get behind him and show him you are proud of his achievements. He has won a US Open title and an Olympic Gold Medal...now he just needs a Wimbledon crown

There are some that only employ words for the purpose of disguising their thoughts.

enjoyed watching agassi and sampras back in the day. dont care much for tennis anymore

I enjoyed Bartoli's victory yesterday although I felt a little sorry for Lisicki as she was clearly overwhelmed by the occasion.  Bartoli is a very quirky individual and I thought she was a little cutie back in the 2006 final; not so much now!

Looking forward to the 'big one' today.  Andy's 5 set victory over Novak in the Wimbledon final may prove pivotal.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

It probably has something to do with Murray being a miserable cnut.

As normal Andy, a fantastic and Intelligent post as we have all come admire and salute you for. If Murray wins will he be deemed the 'British winner' of Wimbledon, his Scottishness will be put to one side as the front of every tabloid newspaper will deem them 'theirs'. The BBC will be rolling out the red carpet to give him the sport's personality of the year award. Whether he has a personality or not, that won't matter. Its a good day for Wimbledon and British sports lets not spoil it with politics gentlemen, This is a sporting thread for Christ's sake.
