same here...with some of the recent saints their miracles have been rather questionable. Like some poor old dear is dying and prays to so and so and a while later she discovers she's well again. So there's the miracle that's required to make so and so a saint. Well, people do get sick and do recover. And I'm sure the poor old sick lady was also praying to about 500 others at the same time. So who knows for sure which deceased future saint actually did the grand deed?

It's beyond belief that people can buy this nonsense and newscasters can report it without bursting with laughter. And as far as miracles go healing is rather weak. I have healed myself from headaches repeatedly by taking aspirin but don't expect me to apply for sainthood any time soon. I want to see some really spectacular miracles like levitating, flying without a plane to save fuel, walking on water or turning garbage into gold. Sainthood is akin to the Popes Hall of Fame. That's more reasonable language. But then there was that sticky little issue of thousands of pedophile priests which was sort of ignored. And poor Joe Paterno lost his chance for football sainthood after just one small breach.

Just a clarification - are you including lapsed Catholics or only practising Catholics. If it's the latter then you are on the wrong forum board if you are a practising Catholic. BTW I am in the former group.
