An honor roll student from Thammasart University was given poison to drink by her mother after she was diagnosed with Oral Cancer. Doctors weren’t able to cure the cancer. Making her mother decide to kill her daughter and kill herself right after.

June 29, 2013; At 09.30, Police Captain Ekachai Moolee of Sattahip police station was informed that a mother and daughter committed suicide at the Sai Napa Village in Sattahip. Police and rescue officers rushed out to the reported house.

At the reported house, police found the body of 20 year-old Ms. Atima Chotesiri, a Third-year honor roll student at Thammasart University and the body of her mother, 52 year-old Mrs. Benjamat Chotesiri, she was still alive, but in a critical condition. Doctors at the hospital weren’t able to help her, as it was too late.. From initial body inspections, police found traces of insecticide on both bodies. Police presume that insecticide was consumed by both the mother and daughter.

After questioning 1 CPO Mr. Adirek Chotesiri, who worked in the Royal Thai Navy, police were able to find out that his only daughter, Ms. Atima was diagnosed with a tumor in her mouth since birth. As time passed by, the tumor developed into Oral Cancer. Mr. Adirek said that his daughter was doing therapies and was getting treatment by doctors, but after a recent diagnosis, doctors said that Ms. Atima could not be helped anymore as it out of the doctor’s hands. This led the family into heavy depression, especially Mrs. Benjamat, she extremely depressed and shocked after she heard what the doctors told her. Before the incident, Mr. Adirek said that his wife repeatedly spoke of committing suicide. Up until today, when Mrs. Benjamat told her husband to buy something outside, he didn’t suspect that she was going to commit suicide. After coming home, Mr. Adirek found his daughter and wife lying on the floor, unconscious. Which made him call up the police for help, but police weren’t able to help.
