Reported in Australia media this morning that coach Mickey Arthur has been sacked by C A .

Amazing timing considering the ashes is only 16 days away !

I thought he should have gone months ago , and by all reports he won't be missed .

Who will take over ?

Darren "Boof" Lehmann (current 'Australia A' coach) will be appointed.

He will have the support of the players (as one of their own).

Oz cricket down the tubes Clark is a dud

A dud with an average of 52.33 who scored 4 test match double centuries in 2012 (3 doubles and a triple, actually).

He's just resigned as a selector. Probably a good thing.

"Boof" Lehman....Good choice, poor Mickey was never a chance. They are a disorganised rabble with huge egos and little talent. They need strong leadership and discipline just to be competitive.

Amen to those thoughts, I'm an Aussie and can't stand the whole big headed bunch!

Pup sure has talent , of that no doubt . Probably Australia's one hope of being competitive this ashes series if he's fit in time . Runs on the board giving his bowlers half a chance .

I think i'm right in saying Mickey Arthur was the first foreign head coach appointed by CA . Pity they sacked him , from an English point of view of course !

Aussie cricket may be at its lowest point since the mid 80's about now. Ashes is not gonna be pretty I fear.

Have faith !  :LOL2:

For 15 years plus, we smashed England from pillar to post in The Ashes.

They're looking for revenge for all those years of pain, and now they've got the team to do just that.

Young quicks look like they have a bright future, but I don't see the next Hayden, Hussey or Ponting coming through yet.

Hope I'm wrong about The Ashes.

Been following England through some hard times against a nearly always superior Aussie team . Only bright spots i can think of until 2005 were the Gower 85 & Gatting 86/7 series wins.

I think (hope) these upcoming ashes series are competitive , and i would never write off the baggy greens however average they appear to be . England tend to dissapoint when they are expected to do well , and the tag of favourites doesn't always fit .

Maybe the appointment of lehmann could just be the spark needed for Australia . I would much rather Arthur was in charge from an English perspective.

Remember we have won more series and lost less and we have won far more Tests than them.

What "boils my piss" (Thank you 7-Eleven) is these LOSING England captains coming out with their smart tweets and pontificating on Sky like Gower, Gooch, Atherton, Hussain!

Fuckers!

I love English people, except on the cricket field.

Thank fuck the Aussi's are in disarray, not replaced their top players that retired, scapping in bars, sacking coach.

England have never had a better opportunity to win the ashes

Breaking news Gillard gone as pm,l maybe there going to bring her in as an adviser

Maybe they will bring her in as an opening bat , she's more likely to score runs than Phil Hughes . :GoldenSmile1:

The disarray was partly Mickey Arthur , the other part remains .

Can't include Gower in that statement mate ,  1985    England 3 Australia 1

Gower played his cricket and skippered in a similar style to the Aussies , but the other 3 were all regimental in their captaincy .

I love most aussies i meet , but run into some right arsewipes on the cricket field .

Still have a drink and a joke with them after the game though .  Be rude not to .

well he won one (against a shambles of a team) and he lost one. Apparently he says we are animals with no culture.

After so many years loosing to McGrath, Warne, and co in the Aussi's golden age, it would be nice to get a 5-0 whitewash

If the weather holds out

Maybe i am dreaming but it is a good dream

We rolled Somerset last night for 320 after they were 2-304 :Surrender1:

Phil Hughes edges straight balls. He will probably miss it if England start swinging it.  Anyway, Watson is going to be opening apparently. Not sure who with. We seem to have about 10 openers there at the moment. Could do worse than Chris Rogers and I think Warner is worth a go at number 6.  He will probably make 5 ducks followed by a double century in half an hour.

Ever since Keppler Wessels found his way into an Australian Test side I have been critical of international players playing test cricket for other countries.  Same thing applies with coaches. Australia has some of the best cricket minds in the world and they bring in a South African with an average record as the national coach.

Australians have proven their ability to coach at international levels

Geoff Lawson and Dav Whatmore have both coached Pakistan

Greg Chapel Coached India

Geoff Marsh and Tom Moody were Sri Lanka Coaches

John Dyson and David Moore coached West Indies.

It is bad enough that or national rugby team has sold out to allow a Kiwi to coach them (badly in MHO) but capitulating to a South African coach when Australia has ample talent to draw from is criminal.

We have many ex players who use their skills and experience to help Australian cricket. Rod Marsh, Dennis Lilley and Shane Warne are stand outs.

There are some that only employ words for the purpose of disguising their thoughts.

Bad week for Micky Arthur...I just heard his mother died yesterday!!! I do not really follow the cricket that much these days...but you have got to feel a bit sorry for a bloke who got sacked and his mother dies in the same week.

Understand where you are coming from Andyaus , and i always cite Keppler Wessels as a stand out example of using a team for convenience .

Played plenty of times for Australia and then jumped back to SA when they were re admitted to international cricket .  No shame , no scruples .

England seem keen on this Boyd Rankin , whose been playing for Ireland for ages but has jumped ship to England along with Morgan .

Ed Joyce was found out , not good enough to play for England and now represents Ireland !

Sometimes the top players don't make top coaches , but i'm sure there are plenty of quality cricket "brains " in Australia

Yep...doesn't sound much like a dud to me.

It will be interesting to see how Boof does.

I wish him all the best.
