Man Caught After Stealing Gold Worth Over 80,000 THB In Pattaya

A man from the country-side was caught and arrested after he had stolen gold worth over 80,000 THB from a newly opened gold shop in Pattaya. Traffic police were able to arrest him on the very same day.

PATTAYA – June 21, 2013 [PDN]; At 11.30 AM, Police Colonel Suppachai Puikaewkam, Direct of Banglamung police station was informed that a robbery happened at a gold shop in Soi Nern Plub Wharn. After receiving the report, police officers rushed out to the incident.

At the gold shop, police met 51 year-old Panya Panprasong, the owner of the gold shop. He told the police that a teenager came into his shop to look at gold necklaces worth over 80,000 THB, but as soon as Mr. Panya handed him the necklaces to look at, the teenager ran out of the shop and escaped with his motorbike that was parked in front of the shop.

After Mr. Panya contacted the police and provided a detailed description of the teenager and his vehicle, traffic police officers were informed about the incident. Traffic police officers then looked at the CCTV to try and find the teenager. Moments after traffic police officers were informed, the teenager was successfully chased after and arrested. He was later identified as 22 year-old Mr. Jatupon Saetan, who came from Suphanburi province.

After questioning Mr. Jatupon, it was known that he had committed this crime in order to support his two children as well as his wife. He claimed that they were in debt after they had opened a laundry. He also said he had to pay for his children school tuition which made him ultimately steal the gold necklaces from the gold shop.
Mr. Jatupon has now been arrested by the police and confessed all of crimes. He will now be prosecuted by Banglamung police offciers.
