A paint factory in Samutprakarn province exploded and eventually caught fire. It took firemen 3 hours to control and extinguish the fire. The damages of the factory are estimated to be about 100 Million THB

SAMUTSAKORN – June 20, 2013 [PDN]; At around 10.00 AM a fire broke out at the factory of K.A. Paint Ltd. The fire swiftly broke out inside the building where the paint materials are stored, which made the fire spread even quicker. The fire was so strong that the building collapsed, explosions were also heard by people around the area. 50 firetrucks had to be used to extinguish the fire, since it spread around a large area.

As for factory workers that worked nearby the K.A. Paint factory, panicked and escaped the area as soon as possible, fearing that their workplace or factories would catch fire as well.

Mr. Julpat Saengjan, the Provincial Governor ordered firemen around the area to have all firemen and firetrucks dispatched to the factory, as the fire was too large to handle. The fire was soon controlled after 3 hours of hard work by the firemen, it was successfully extinguished 01.20 PM. Experts estimate the damage of the factory to be about 100 Million THB.

Police will now investigate the burnt down factory in order to see whether it was an accident or arson.
