How picky are immigration about overlapping stamps - Full passport with maybe enough space for an extension stamp

Hi

I'm probably going to go home when my visa expires to sort stuff out and wanted to avoid paying out for a new passport while I'm here. I would prefer to get the 30 day extension if I can but I've no empty pages left, but there are two spaces which would  just fit the extension stamp in if they overlap by just under 1cm. Looking through my passport it looks like they've all been done by someone with OCD and I'm not sure if they have any picky rules about stamps fitting in without overlap.

Might be just nothing to worry about, but I didn't want to go down and get refused.

On the same note, what happens if you lose your passport?, can you extend you visa with what they put in your temp passport to get you home?

I'm British if it makes any difference.

Sorry I don't have that knowledge or experience, I do notice none of mine overlap but it does annoy me that when there is space on a page already in use they will stamp on another page and often in the middle.

I'm on an Aussie passport. Some of my stamps overlap a little but once the passport gets absolutely full and there is no place to stamp clearly then the passport becomes inoperable (so I was told by Aus immigration). Stamping directly over other stamps shouldn't happen, although some countries don't seem to care.

That annoys me too, especially if you need a full page for a visa. When my passport starts to fill up I usually ask (and point) the officer to stamp in a specific place to preserve space for visas. Most have obliged.

Just call in the Immigration and ask and I am sure they will fit a stamp in for you, if you do not feel comfortable with that call in my office I shall check for you,
