Hi All,

I am now looking to move up to a full DSLR and after using a Canon sx10 bridge camera for a couple of years.

Having looked around my choice comes down to these 2 cameras.

Both are classed as entry level Dslr's which is what i need to learn with. That being said i dont wish to out grow either to quickly.

D5100 with Lens comes in at £326

D3200 with Lens comes in at £339

The Lens is a Nikon 18-55mm

 So gentlemen your thoughts please.

 Be well Dave

I bought a used D5000 for 12,000 baht, including the kit lens, a few months ago and am very happy with it. The original price was 28,000, cameras are expensive in Thailand.

I think Nikon has just come out with the D5200.

I added a 55-300 mm lens for 11000 and a SD-700 speed light for another 11000. Your costs add on after the initial purchase.

The Nikon 5200 is on the market for some time now. It's a very good camera to start with. The 5100 is a good camera to but I would by the new one. I would recommend you to by the camera in a kit with the 18 - 105 lens. It's a very good lens for the range of wide angel to small zoom. My sister have the 5100 with 18-55 and 55-200 lens and after trying my lens she gone sell here's and by the same as I have. You have everything in one lens otherwise you have to take two lenses with you all the time.

Wow Piece Corp, Some stunning pics in both threads. Those are the sort of pics and level i am trying to attain.

The D5200 is out now but i would rather spend the extra £150(B8000) on a Zoom Lens.

Thank you for the quick response Dave.

Quite Guy the D5200 is out but at £150 extra which i can't justify at the moment especially when i could use that money for a different lens.

At your suggestion i could use that money for a Tamron AF 18-200mm lens.

 Be well Dave

the d5100 is a better camera than the d3200.remember the tamron 70-200af does not have a motor in it so you'll have to manual focus.and it is a poor lens just like the nikon 55-200 and the 55-300.look at the sigma 18-250 hsm, tamron 18-270 or nikon 70-300vr.stick to af-s lenses, e-bay is worth a look.always look at photographic magazines buying advice on lenses and there rating out of 100 what digital camera probably the best.
