Ridick Bowe Fight

I was reading on yahoo the other day that Ridick Bowe has a Muay thai fight there in Pattaya....was just wondering if it was true or not and if someone was in attendence...the article on yahoo said he got his a$$ kicked.......but made some $$$$

He maybe threw like 8 or 9 punches, I don't think he kicked once. The other guy was Russian (I think) but he did ok. <br />

Heard he got $150,000 and got his arse kicked by a Russian.Did not throw a punch,the guy just kicked him in the shins and he went down 7 times in 2 rounds and lost by TKO.

 yeah!, he got ass kicked! it is a shame to see a great fighter go down like this, IMHO he should just stay retired, but who knows maybe he needs the money.

It was funny!  I remember it being in the papers and even on the Thai news leading up to the that day. On Friday I was wondering why the traffic was so heavy leading into Pattaya? By 4pm the cars were lined up past Pattaya Nua on Sukhumvit you could sense all the cars were coming from Bangkok because of the license plates. 

I went since the admission was free, the news the next day said he was to be paid $150,000 win or lose he needed the money since he was broke. The promoter expected 20,000 but only 1,000 came instead. 

First round he came out throwing a few jabs I sense it was fixed or something? The Russian guy seem to just play around with him or feeling him out in the 2nd round, after the bell rang, the Russian kicked him on the leg/shin like 5 times he went down and never got up.  Said something like 15 minutes after the fight his leg was still hurting, also said he wasn't done?  The guy is so overweigh I seriously doubt he could even lift his leg to kick?

 

After the go gos were packed surprised to see some many Thais allow into the clubs.

Bowe was said to be at over 300 lbs.  He's lucky he didn't have a heart attack!

 

It's tough for many fighters to walk away once their time is clearly done, and the fact that they have blown all of their money makes it that much more difficult.

 

Now it appears many are turning to MMA (or Muay Thai) in an attempt to cash in on their "name" and make a couple of bucks (even though they literally have no chance of winning).

 

As a guy who has spent quite a bit of time around boxers, it is a very sad thing to see.  In fact, a friend who was one of -- if not THE -- best ringside physicians in the sport has sworn off of boxing.  He said he can't bear to watch fighters take the punishment any more.

 

As for "Big Daddy" Bowe, he was one of the first fighters that I got an autographed boxing glove from....and the asshole "charged" me $5 to sign it!  That was about 18 years ago and told me all that I needed to know about his financial affairs....

Fucking embarrasing to watch.Bowe never landed one punch.Just clung to the ropes and let him kick him.And some lunatic paid him $150,000 for it.Crazy.

 

Obvious to see Bowe had no heart and if he had boxed like a boxer and threw some punches may well have caught him.

 

Had not done one day's Muay Thai training as he looked clueless.Matey had no interest in throwing punches,did not want to get in a war as he knew Bowe would probably poleaxe him.

Funny the promoter hoping for 20,000 people, where would they have watched it from ?

Bowe took some serious kicks to his legs. I'd expect he sustained permanent damage. At his age, injuries don't quite heal.

What really stood out was how the young Russian was celebrating after the fight. Dude, you just beat a poor, out of shape, old man. You gonna jump around the ring and boast like you just overcame Pacquiao?
