Guesthouses and cheap hotels are much the same. Only some guesthouses have the host with personality that can change your stay

Try the places on LK Metro or Canterbury Tales, across the street from Soi Chow.

Hi hgg

The Devonshire Restaurant & Guest House. (Soi Lengkee)

Really well run and some excellent rooms and one of the most delicious restaurants attached.

See my FULL detailed review here:

http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/125461-the-devonshire-restaurant-hotel-review/

The Clean Guest House (Soi Lengkee)

Great Guest House. I found it a really lovely private place to stay and good value.

See my FULL review here:

http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/127495-clean-guest-house-soi-lenkee-review/

The Rock House (Soi LK Metro)

Right in the middle of the action on Soi LK Metro. The real highlight is the friendliest little bar in all Pattaya with Alex as your host. The Bar has just been refurbished so probably even better now and I am looking forward to dropping in soon to check it out.

See my FULL review here:

http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/154831-the-rockhouse-soi-lk-metro-review/

The 3Som Guest House (Soi LK Metro)

Great place to stay not as freindly and inviting bar as The Rock House but good value and nice big rooms.

See my FULL review here:

http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/125279-3-som-guest-house-soi-lk-metro-review/

Onyx Guest House (Soi Lengkee)

Just for fun a really low budget $450 baht a night Guest House just as an idea what this price tag includes. Look it is a little shabby and poorly run but the value is okay with AC / Wi-Fi incl / TV of sorts lol

See my FULL report here:

http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/126425-onyx-guest-house-bar-soi-lenkee-review/

Hope it helps

Not sure if other Board Members will agree but I like to book, say 4 days then look about for better value when I am on the ground. Not a good idea in Peak Peak season but most of the year plenty of Guest Houses available and fun staying at all different places. Oh and if you get a place that is more like a dumpster you can leg it quickly lmao.

Just stayed at Chow Soy for 16 nights at the end of May, it was my third stay there and never had any problems.

I once accidentally left my safe open during my first trip there. I closed the door but didn't turn the lock to the closed position. Again nothing happened.

Only thing that kinda worried me was that there were renovations going on downstairs during my last days and the aircon in the room was serviced (cleaning lady stayed in the room while they were doing this, got back to the room when they were finishing up). I am always weary of external personnel anywhere in the world. Again nothing happened.

As to the comments regarding the late replies to emails from Dave the owner, I can't say I have waited more than 48 hrs for a reply from him. Everything I have ever done with him has worked well and he is an understanding guy, which includes changing dates several times and exchanging emails regarding a possible cancellation due to illness my family.

<br /><br />I really don't know the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident, and to be fair I am also not the owner or the police. If the cleaning lady or any other member of Dave's staff wasn't present when wanting to leave the room, I would have waited for the servicing to be completed. <br /><br />Although I don't know Dave that well (only see him two or three times in the span of a two week stay) I highly doubt that he wouldn't be concerned. <br /><br />At the end of the day what does the person affected want? I would have gone to the police and filed a report, not sure how much good that would do but it should be done. What do you expect the owner or staff to do other than the same?<br /><br />Theft can happen anywhere, you can just do the best to try and protect yourself, this is one of the reasons I opened a bank account in Pattaya. Still I have camera, phones, credit cards, passport etc. in the safe. For future I will get a milockie for piece of mind<br /><br />Link : http://www.milockie.com/<br /><br />Again your accusations are serious but still very vague, nevertheless it is extremely regrettable that such a situation has happened.<br /><br />Nonetheless, IMO I doubt there is a substantial lower risk staying elsewhere, if someone wants to steal something, they will. Sad but true fact.

You are shameless Dave.  :GoldenSmile1:

Dave, across from Chow Soy, has good rooms.

To OP,

I'm surprised Dave at Chow Soy hasn't replied to you.  Shoot him another email.  His rooms are great.

I dont arrive until the 25th, so will miss you this time. Have a good trip. You must have a well paid job, you seem to spend more time in Thailand than Australia now :P

Not that well paid.

I sold my car because I didn't need it so it funded a few trips.

There have been some really great flight sales in Australia of late and also I'm addicted. :)

It's a shame I'll miss you this time around.

I'm sure our paths will cross again in the future over there.

I still stop and chat to your girl at Carosel Bar when I see her there.
