The wife and i love lobster and crab and have tried many different restaurants over the years. We use 2 places.

1st 1 is J.Daeng on second rd on the corner of soi skawbeach. Fresh seafood cooked well but really its just a place to eat and leave.

The 2nd is perfect if your looking for the wow factor.

Its a little out of the way but has the best seafood, fantastic setting, and only rarely do you find tourists there. (perfect if you want to wow your tilak of the day)

Its located on 3rd rd going towards the sukhumvit (a bht bus will take u there for about 100bht).

Now comes the tricky bit.... I dont actually know the name of this place WTF1.gif

Heres a few markers.... outside the restaurant has a name in neon lights called THE COTTAGE (this is the restaurant upstairs) and directly opposite is Chivas bar. If you stop the taxi at the neon Cottage sign you will see a large carpark and the restaurant is located on the ground level there.

The restaurant in question is unmistakable... its an open air place and as you walk inside has a large waterfall to the left hand side.

Typically you can expect to pay around 1000bht for 2 people to eat (crab lobster etc) including a few drinks (beer wine etc)

The service in this place is some of the best ive recieved in Thailand and if your looking to impress this restaurant never fails.

Im in no way assosiated with this place...but just thought id give you the benefit of a perfect evening meal IMO.

The best I`ve found by far is the place in Nacliua .

You just keep going down Naclua road N , past the market , through the old village and when the road turns sharp right to Sukomvit road carry straight on instead!

100M on the left.

A lot of the wealthy Thais eat there on the terrace overlooking the sea or in the air con dining room as well as the ex-pats .

I have actually seen boats hit the beach and bring live fish to there holding tanks so the market is skipped and the freshness shows in the quality of the meal.

.5 K squat lobster cooked to your liking .800Bt--Wok ed with fresh garlic and herbs is my favorite !

1K lobster 2600Bt ( enough for 4 really if you have other dishes)

Portions big and perfectly cooked.

Individual plates from 300Bt - crabs , fish , shell fish ext..

Yummy

and well worth a visitor making a journey to eat there with the locals!

Not been there for a while, but the (King) lobster at Savoey ,corner of second road and Pattayaklang was always good. Granted no view to speak of,but a choice of eating in air con or fan.

A better seafood place is slightly further back on 2nd Rd,between soi 7 and 8. Betong Seafood. Never seen lobster there, but they do good crab dishes and the mussels in chilli and basil paste is a must. Mainly a thai and Chinese place though as most farangs walk past.

I am not being alarmist in this but a lot of the muscles here have a tapeworm infection ( You can find it in the stomach -the green black bit ).

Make sure they are cooked through as I have been told it can pass to humans unlike some more specialised varieties in other animals!

Sorry

But true!

The name of the place is 'Moom Alloy', (no English sign) it is a Balinise styled garden restaurant which caters mainly to Thais and is therefore quite well-priced with pretty good food.

The drawbacks are that, despite the design concept, is has as much atmosphere as an anorexic's underwear, there is no music of any kind played, it closes around midnight and service can be patchy at best. That said, it seems to have climbed out of the customerless pit it found itself in a year or so ago and is well worth a visit. Try Bail', the Pattaya branch of the famous Lad Prao, Bangkok, restaurant and music bar on the opposite side of the carpark', for late drinks and excellent, modern, sometimes experimental Thai cuisine.

Try to avoid the Elvis and Bee Gee's tribute bands.

Both places are owned by the same people who have Lucifer's, Tarzan Hut, and many other Thai orientated places.

For truly excellent Thai food, including seafood, at real Thai prices in a wonderful lake and garden setting, take the turning towards Soi Yume and Tantarrak School which is on opposite side of Sai 3 from Moom Alloy and The Cottage (on the traffic lights) and which runs up the side of what used to be the Blue Chilli Pub. Pass the DJ club, follow the road to the right and there is a fairylighted place with a carpark out front. Go too far and you will find a fishing park and then a fairly new short-time motel.

Great food, great service, imaginative prepartion and menu and cheap Leo.

They also have a gifted guitarist singing Thai 'songs of life' stuff so a razor blade and a handful of valium may also be required.

For great seafood at local prices get down to Ban Amphur, about 15 kilometers east of Pattaya, and visit Preecha's.

It is fantastic but beware it is open all day so the tanks tend to empty quickly and it starts to close around 9:30 pm anyway.

Are these places mentioned better than the Lobster Pot? I went there several times when I visited previously and have always had a great time.

Gotta love it!!! N.Y. Giants, 2008 Superbowl Champions. N.Y. Giants vs. N.E. Patriots...final score: Giants 17, Patriots 14 Repeat of 2008....N.Y. Giants vs N.E. Patriots - Giants 21, Patriots 17. Doesn't get any better than that!!

A few years ago the Lobster Pot used to be good. Called in there about a month ago and prices had sky rocketed. Just paid for our drinks and walked out.

Hello,

Mr.99 on Beach Road near the Mermaid Fontain is also a very good place to eat a good lobster and the service is excellent.
