Hey, I do not want to spoil the mood, but I once flew with Lufthansa flight attendants and staff were quite old (probably as a reward for long-haul flights). Likewise Frankfurt airport, I did not like. Relatively old and the staff was helpful. Unfortunately I do not have a good experience with Lufthansa. Despite their frequent strikes, but that's another story.
On the other hand, I have to say that I have used several Austrian Airlines (former Lauda Air), which now belongs to Lufthansa and I was quite satisfied, including services and personnel and flight attendants.

Yet, right through everything I wish you the best possible flight and good service.

Yeah they are pretty gash but 1.5 hours in Frankfurt is fine you will have no bother

Iv'e done that flight a couple of times. You will need to get your skates on transfering from one plane to another as its quite a walk

If you don't fuck about and head straight there it's okay.

Flew Manchester-Frankfurt-Bangkok once. All was fine except on the MAN-FRA leg where there was a lot of business class passengers who boarded first and used ALL the overhead locker space. This meant the economy passengers had to sit with their bags on their laps or around the seats. Pretty shitty really.

Getting around FRA is pretty easy, you'll make your transfer fine.

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

I think you'll arrive in FRA in Terminal 1. lufthansais also Terminal 1. so if you don't have a delay you should be fine. Try to avoid having a coffee break in between ;-)

Glad this topic as started as im off with Lufthansa in a few weeks,i  i`ve flown with them once before(FRA-BKK) about 9 years ago and I was quite pleased with the service, nice modern aircraft where you didn't have to queue for the toilets(you went down some stairs where there was a line of cubicles),first time I`d seen that on a plane. My overall opinion was one of typical German efficiency but I`ve only flown with them the one time so my opinion isn't worth much.

i did it in august malaga to frank then bkk no problem with 1 hour 30 mins stop over....did you get a good deal???

thanks for the replies, and yes I did get a good deal £547.00,it's a bad time to fly as it's falang holiday time,

the same flight is £1400.00 now.

Will I have time for a cigarette? I'd like to think so

Hey I just flew the FRA-BKK leg on Lufthansa a few weeks back. Connected from Duesseldorf. I upgraded with miles to business class. This being said you have the change terminals to the long haul flights. My flight was a late evening flight, departing something like 10 20 pm, one of the last flights out of FRA. The trek between the terminals is doable in the time you have and your luggage will make it, don't worry about that.

As a previous poster has stated, don't dilly dally and change terminals, you will have passport control which can be slow as not all the counters were manned at the time I was trying to go through and it seemed they were checking all non EU passengers with a fine toothed comb, must have been looking for someone.

One benefit though is due to you only changing terminals you do not have to go through a security check, this was the case with me. This I found to be an advantage.

Once you arrive in the long haul international terminal, there are smoking sections.

My flight boarded on time and got out to taxi on time as there is a time restriction in FRA as to how late planes are allowed to take off. If you miss the window, you don't take off, but Lufthansa seems to be efficient with this.

Service on Lufthansa is standard, the attendants on board are mostly old and a little grumpy, but service is just ok.

On the way back I flew Austrian through Vienna, this was much better, more modern planes, much better and more personal service, much better business class and economy class.

On a side note, if you are late coming from the UK and it is tight, I am sure Lufthansa ground crews will help you. I once was flying on business to Japan and my connection from Duesseldorf to FRA was delayed, only had less than an hour to make my connection (afternoon flight). There was ground crew with a plaque showing OSAKA as I arrived, they had a separate bus to take me and the other three passengers going to Osaka to the next terminal as well as a separate passport control. Was one of the last people to board the flight, but it worked. I asked before boarding if my luggage was on board, they checked the luggage system on their computer terminal and said you have a 80/20 chance of it being on board but we cannot confirm, we can only see it has been unloaded and is being transferred. My bag made it to Osaka, was one of the first to come on the belt as it was one of the last to be loaded.

So the service is good, just the planes are somewhat dated, to my knowledge for the FRA BKK run they use the old 747-400s that only have the first class cabin updated!

If you got a good price, it will be ok, its only 10 hours....

A blind man can figure out how to connect in Frankfurt.

Just a lot of walking depending on which airline to which.

First, youw will not go thru customs if you are connecting.  Just a security checkpoint.

Some connections at FRA can be a bit of trek .... others not so much.  It is really luck of the draw.  Signage is fine.  Just follow the signs for international transfers.
