Hey, do any of you know if I can take a helmet carry on at swampy?  Seems all airports have a different pollicy.  Just don't want to have to repack at check in.  Brought it carry on from the US but had to check it at Clark.  Whats swampys current pollicy?

Wondering the same thing.  An expensive helmet would not be something I would want to risk with checked luggage. If it is checked, it needs to be packed inside a good box (perhaps the original helmet shipping box) with lots of bubble wrap, etc. then labled "Fragile".

Dropping the helmet will potentially jeopardize it's structure, and actually compromise it's ability to protect in a fall.

Not entirely true. If there is something inside it about the size and weight of a head then yes, but if it's empty and has nothing to react against then it would be fine. If you skip to 7:14 in this video you can hear it direct from an Arai rep

Good to know, after trashing a Shoei X-11, and a X-12. Once in practice, the other in a race. I will try to avoid having my head inside the helmet next time.

Never get tired of Jay. Thanks for this clip. Pretty amazing footage of Shinya Nakano crash.

Good idea, next time out don't wear it, just strap it to your seat, it will save you money  :ThumbUp6:

The helmet is fairly light, and it's not so fragile when empty. Laws of physics, my friend, it doesn't have that much momentum unless you drop it from a great height with a complete lack of padding. If it were so fragile, it wouldn't protect you during a fall.

When I opened this thread I was expecting it to be about some sexual problem or STD you caught! 5555
