Big Thank You to Key Visa

Thought I would put a post up here with my thanks to Darren and Key Visa who handled the successful UK tourist visa application for my girlfriend. Everything was handled quickly and professionally and I would recommend them to anyone.

Emails were answered quickly every time and the Thai staff kept my girlfriend informed of exactly what was needed.

Don't know what she will make of Scotland when she comes over in two weeks time though she will freeze her arse off.

Darren certainly seems to know his stuff.

If it flies, floats or fucks - it will be cheaper to rent !

He does, must more important he has established very good connections where they are needed most, so Darren can cut through the red tape bullshit and get fast results.

i'm curious, what did he charge you?

A six month multi entry tourist visa costs ฿3680.

5000 Baht deposit

25,000 Baht payable on issue of the visa. NO visa no further fees. The application fees are paid by Key Visa.

Contrary to what many people say "tourist" visas are not straightforward to the UK.

I couldn't disagree more and I am quite surprised that you made that statement.  I can think of two people you know that found the process very straightforward.  I would argue that MOST applications are straightforward and do not require any so called "professional" help whatsoever.

Here is just one example of how one guy did it.

There are many, many more...

I hope both you and your gf enjoy her trip to Scotland.

I'm thinking about arranging a visa for my gf and just wondered how long the process took from application to issue of the visa. I appreciate it can vary for a number of reasons.

Hi Muu

Because we are submitting and collecting applications everyday, the tourist visas are approximately 8 working days

Settlement visas are very quick currently approximately 15 working days

Individuals can choose to fill the forms out themselves, or pay an agent to do it for them. There is a lot of guidance out there for people that want to do it themselves, and possibly save £600. Some people of course will be back in the UK, or their girlfriends position and background may not be straight forward. At the end of the day, it is an individual decision whether to use the services of an agent, and how much much you negotiate for their fee's......many thai agents in town charge less, but some people will want to deal with a Farang.....

I plan to use Key Visa - kicking off the process this week. Does anyone know if i can buy a one way ticket for my GF. Or do immigration insist on a return ticket? I would like to leave the options open for the return date if i can. Cheers.

Hi Russ

It has to be a return ticket, if you need maybe to change the return date book an open ticket, return 6 months

Visa took 2 weeks exactly after my girlfriend went to the British Embassy in Bangkok to meet Darrens staff and have her fingerprints taken etc for the application.

Getting decent priced flights for her so you can change the departure dates if you want was a bit of a pain but Etihad were the best for this as well as being the cheapest to start with.

I've been looking at some of the flight prices online for me and my gf and noticed that some internet tickets are priced cheaply because they are only valid for a return within a set period i. e. 1, 2, 3 or 6 months, meaning the return ticket either can't be extended or will be expensive to change. Worth bearing in mind when comparing prices.

Thanks for the update Bmac800 - I had thought the visa might take a bit longer so it gives me a bit more time to get organised. I've been checking the prices online for a few days now and noticed the conditions attached to the cheaper tickets could make them more expensive if we needed to change our plans for any reason.

Settlement visa allows a one way ticket, tourist visa requires return ticket maximum stay 6 months. :GoldenSmile1:

There are many things that we can either try DIY or pay the professional. DIY means saving money but it also means greater chances of stuffing things up and going about it the wrong way. If my car needs a new gearbox I can look online for step-by-step guidance on replacing a gearbox, and spend hours on my back under a smelly engine getting filthy. Or I can take my car to a mechanic and pay the professional to do the job for me.

Hi Darren, I am not sure about having to have a return ticket, I have 2 mates, both GFs here now, and both came without a return ticket, but have to warn people that its costs twice as much more then a return lol, they are looking now to go back in July at a cost of £600 +

Hi Neil For a tourist visa to the UK they must have a return ticket as most airlines in BKK would not let them board the flight never mind the aggro from the Customs at the other end, obviously for a settlement visa a one way is fine

Most of my clients will book a 6 months open ticket, so to change the return date is free,

Right, that's how it is for Australia as well. No way in this world can a TGF on a visitor visa get into the country without a return ticket. For one thing she wouldn't be allowed to board the flight at BKK, even is she did manage to get on a flight someway she wouldn't get past immigration on arrival. She'd be returned to point of departure on the next available flight.

Todays the day she flies down from Chiang Mai to Bangkok tonight to catch her flight to UK.

Never told her its absolutely pissing down here she is more concerned with not getting her 3 showers a day and where she can get free internet.
