Grand Hotel, Walking Street Area

Anyone have any experience with the Grand hotel off of Walking Street?  I'm primarily concerned with cleanliness and girl policy.  My biggest fear with any hotel is having to deal with pests.  Haven't ever experienced issues with bedbugs or anything like that so far, but I've always spent a little more money to stay somewhere new or well known.  I stayed at Sea Me Sprint Too last trip, and that place was both newer and very clean.  I have no experience with this place, so I'd just want to get a first hand report if possible. The pictures look ok on Agoda.  Some rooms look a pinch outdated, but otherwise fine.  Pictures can lie though, so any input would be appreciated.

Good hotel, not exceptional, clean rooms(daily cleaning, replaced sheets and towels), had a room at the 8th floor / 9(I think it was superior) one king size bed, nice TV( not flat) working internet but slow, shower seems to have problems with the drain during peak hours, girls super friendly, nice personnel, well.. it was good, for the price.( if I remember well 1,400 bht per day, breakfast included)

Incredibly quiet for the area, just 20 meters away from Walking Street, even with open windows the noise was very low. A few pics on my TR.

Hope this help, a, been there end Feb- March this year.

 Cheers, Gabe

Life is a deadly deasease sexually transmitted....

First Timer, Solo, Walking Street for 9 nights, a blast!

Thanks Gabe.  I really like the location, but was worried about it being a dive.  This puts my mind at rest.  I liked Soi 10 because it was somewhat central to Soi 6, Walking Street, and Metro area, but considering how cheap baht busses are, everything is close by.  I think I'm going to try this place next time.

I have stayed there in the past as it is so convenient to WS & the adjoining soi's when the area was really hot. Never had problems with bugs & yes it was dated but I can't speak for any recent improvements, if any. It has a great roof deck which anybody can access with great views of the whole area.

Just a warning, I did have a credit card compromised there back in those days (2002-2005) when I used the hotel every year. But I just should have been more careful & nothing was lost as the ANZ Bank cancelled the card immediately it was used by the fraudster in Thailand.

No problems with bringing girls back to the room. Incidentially the higher up rooms have good views as well. The building is built 90 degrees to WS so it is up to you which side or view, you wish to enjoy.

It is a little dated but very convenient to WS. They offered a free breakfast that was okay when I stayed and never had an issue taking ladies in... A couple of things to note, there was no in room safe but they offered secure storage at the front desk (didn't use as I felt better keeping my valuables with me)... Also, there was a 1K baht deposit for the key but I think that's standard in most places (I got my deposit back without issue but another guy was pitching a fit as I was checking out became he couldn't get his back for some reason)...

Go there and check it out..........Look around..............then decide.  Same system applies to most countries.  Have a couple of back up hotels to go to................

My favourite place. Coming out of discos half drunk, the hotel is just nextdoor...

Rooms on floor 9 are a bit old. I found that some smell bad (old furniture). The deluxe rooms are great.

If you take a room straight at reception, they don't talk to you about breakfast, and in the orning, when you show-up, they tell you it's not included... So ask for breakfast included... or book on internet.

Lots of indian guys staying in there. They stay in the lower floors, two in each room... ha ha ha...

However, they are always nice and polite. Never had any problem.

I know it is generally easy to book on the spot, but I'm one of those travelers who like to have everything set up so I don't have to worry about things and can just relax. I only go for a week at a time, so every minute counts. Also, I find you get slightly better deals in some hotels with online booking.

THANKS TO EVERYONE. GOOD INTEL!

Stayed here more than One time and location wise it is great.

Get the best room you can afford and as high as possible the Standard rooms are Shit.

Only downside for me is I get caught on more than one occasion taking another Girl here and being seen by other Girls but hey who gives a Fuck

Downside is A/C is not great too warm for me and shower you have to hold as it is one of those that sits on top the Taps

Five Nights each time for me is plenty here never tried the Food was always asleep.

Balconys are great with fantastic views

That's a great post, but given it is getting closer to a year old, I just wanted to get a fee of current thoughts about the place. A lot can change in a year in Pattaya, so better to get a heads up.

Book online and ask for a room on 8th floor. you won't get a better price anyway. The price is the price in this hotel, internet or on the spot. So...

Budget rooms are for Indians, with twin beds (see what i mean).

This hotel is quite popular, and is often fully booked on holidays or high season. so it is a good idea to book ahead.

I was staying there 2 times and very happy....Girl friendly, good customer service.

Try to get the deluxe rooms on the 9th floor, safe deposit in the room.

The regular rooms, you can use the safe deposit at the reception.

The room was clean, nice ocean view.

Register for 2 guest (same price), and get free good breakfast buffet for you and for the lady of the night.

Have fun

The grand brings back fond memories it is a great hotel right on the action of Walking Street yet it is discreet as the front of the hotel is on a side street that serves as a buffer from the sounds the going on the hotel is clean staff is friendly very girl friendly. If I were you get a room near the top right side as the hotel has been partially renovated and the rooms are nicer and cleaner expect to pay 600 - 700 baht depending on your stay the higher the room the more expensive has a pent house with pool on the very top excellent place to play and the convence to Walking Street can't be beat.

Stayed there May 17 - 27 on the 9 floor suit room.

Clean rooms no pest had 1 day with out hot water but they repaired the problem quickly. Girl friendly hotel I took 2 ladies to the room at a time a few times and no extra charges. Laundry service not bad price for a tourist hotel. The location is great, the staff are ok as long as you don't rush them. I have booked my next stay there for September. any other questions PM me.

Hopefully scheuleing a return trip for late 2019 early 2020.
