I am up in Nong Khai for a couple of weeks, writing and taking daily walks along the Mekong River.

Although this year's main Bang Fai festival has passed in Thailand, I was surprised to see a home made rocket launch from Laos, on the opposite bank of the Mekong, yesterday evening. The rocket soared high into the sky, began to spin out of control at a great height, then died out, falling back to earth fortunately on the Laos side of the river.
