Charter flight or scheduled flight?

One of the questions on the arrivals card is Charter Flight or Scheduled Flight. I think I put a tick against Scheduled on my last trip, but I wasn't confident it was the right answer. It probably doesn't matter and you won't get into trouble for getting it wrong but I'm curious. I've looked this up online and can't get a clear definition.   So which is it?

I think if you put you flew in on the back of Dumbo no-one would notice. These cards are a stupid bit of official nonsense that they never do anything with.

Charter is like if you go on a holiday with Thomson, First Choice etc. They do holidays to Phuket like this for example. Scheduled is like where you have just bought a flight e.g. BA, Etihad, Emirates etc.

Agree entirely. In this digital age there is absolutely no reason for them. They scan your passport and they know which flight you're on. Some countries (Malaysia and Vietnam for example) have started to see sense and stopped using them altogether.

Did you or your your club personally charter the flight? No.  Then it does not matter.
