I don't know whether this is the right place to put this but I'm planning my move to Thailand and the one thing I don't want to live without is my WaterRower machine.  I already have one and could possibly import it but I would be on an education visa so would have to pay transport and import duties on it - this rules out buying one from the supplier direct if import duties are to applied to full new price for me.

 

Just wondering if anyone who is into their fitness knows if these are available out there locally? 

Gym at Marriot has one so it must be possible to buy them.

That's something to look into at least, thanks for the info.  Hopefully they didn't import it from the manufacturer directly as the website looks like Asian deliveries come from the states with local import taxes and sales taxes to be added.

IMO the best rowers are the Concept brand.  Gyms use them and they hold up well adn glide smoothly.  I checked their homepage and there is no Thailand direct dealer.  There IS a country manager though who might be able to help you.  His email is:

Maybe a search of the net for home gym equipment in thailand will turn up a distributor.

The Concept2 is a vary durable and capable rower but the WaterRower is equally good, I also much prefer the catch provided by the paddle in the water drum, it also makes very little noise in operation and stands upright when not in-use so much more appropriate for my needs (i.e. in a condo).

 

Thanks for your help though it is appreciated but I'd definitely like to stick to the water rower if possible.  It might be a case of just importing my existing model but if they charge me import duty on the full retail price it will hurt.

I JUST LOOKED UP the waterrower.  Neat looking.  And while I was there I checked out their distribution channels.

Thank you.  I bet if you commit to buying they'd deliver to Pattaya too.  I got a guitar that way once and it's a lot riskier buying a guitar cause fit, neck shape and finish can't be determined from a photo alone.
