Areca Lodge - guest over 20y ?

Featured Replies

This is my first stay in Areca Lodge Hotel . Last night I tried to go with girl to my room but she wad declined because she was 19y.

Reception desk staff show me printed information that all guest must have at least 20y. I was suprised bacause on Agoda booking I can find description for Areca : Minimum age of guests is: 15 year(s).

Looks like policy changes have been made in Areca :(

Besides this very nice Hotel.

Thanks for info. Agoda description was not clarify for me.

Maybe I will contact them to add information about overnight guests also.

The 15 doens't apply for Bargirls ....

A lot of the hotels decline overnight guests under 20 .

In fairness, they did warn me about that when I checked in (3 months ago).

Pattaya is like enjoying yourself -it's not for everyone.

Not a LOT, but the Areca and the LK hotel group do.

Best to check before you book in.

Right ! I need to check this before my next trip. As I remember I had no problemy taking 19y girl in the past (if I remember it was Eastiny Place Hotel).

Thanks for all advices  guys !

Definitely not "a lot".   It would be nice to read a justification for such a policy.  Best to avoid this hotel.  Are the LK Group hotels as strict about it?

I would never stay in this hotel again plenty of hotels in this area that do not try scam you like Areca but your choice :)

It's no scam. It's clearly posted. AFAIK It's a good hotel

The phrase "my house, my rules" springs to mind.

It feels like a setup Q with only 3 posts but here goes.

Are you serious? The 15 thing might relate to children of guests!!!

FFS in Thailand under 18 makes you a very bad person, susceptable to BIG scamming by police and a word best not used on this forum .

If she's 19 (has card she is legal) stand your ground and tell them she is your f*cking girlfriend. As I did the first night of 10 with the beautiful P** in the very same hotel.

About 5th night(4 am) I even carried her "passed out" past reception at the evergreen to google eyed staff one night. It was embarassing for me as the manager approached. I said "you already have her her f*cking card"..."she can't handle her p*ss".."Im in room ****"

Reply "Is there anything we can do Sir"

"No ...she's only 40kg but thanks for asking"

I had to stay up and check she didn't vomit for next few hours. The stuff the girls normally do for each other.

And yes this is a good hotel with a big pool.

Sometimes I wonder how many posts have a conflict of interest!!!!! just sayin

Fact is that Agoda does not state the information. As such for the less informed traveller it may be a surprise

To nrvus:

I just mentioned about 15y guest because found this information on agoda webpage of Areca hotel description (Hotel Policies Section) . It stated as  :

  • Minimum age of guests is: 15 year(s).
  • Guests over 15 years old are considered as adults.
  • Extra beds are dependent on the room you choose, please check the individual room policy for more details

I am not interested in guest under 18y but above description means that 18 and 19y girls are allowed as guest.

Don't send to jail everybody that copy and paste text on web pages, slow down. This is NOT my intention to have underage quests.

I juist wanted you know guys difference in description on agoda where we book our hotels and in real life.

As I said besides this one issue I like this hotel , rooms and service are nice.

On my last visit, I used the pool at Areca as some friends were staying there. My friend asked the manager about the 18year policy.

It was stated that the core business of the hotel is from family's, couples, e.t.c. And not mongers. At times, the younger girls, (18-19) that look15-16 and running around half naked is not good for business. That is why they have come up with this policy. And also to protect the customer , as many times an 18-19 year old is in fact younger with fake I.d. Not saying that it is a good policy, but that is the way it is.

My friends have no problem bringing the gals back, just walk thru the parking lot on the left of the main entrance and bypass reception. VERY EASY. Same as using the pool if you are not a guest.

I hope this clarifies their policy

Not shore about Pattaya but several hotels i stayed in in Bangkok decline ladies under 20 . Same with several nightclubs , under 20 no entry , no alcohol .

I am not accusing the OP of anything here.

My points are simple:

Mention of 15 is obviously in relation to charging policy and children of guests.

20year thing relates to joiners. The policy is prudent because of how some guests might appear/fake id as mentioned above.

If you want your 19yr old friend in, stand your ground(walk to lift without her handing card in and ignore their calls) as she is legal and they would be discriminating against her. Don't go all Perry Mason on them. Just be firm that she is your girlfriend.....Same Same all LK group.

As for night clubs the going rate for your 19yr old friend is 100bht note in the hand of the security guy(marine, insomnia, lucipher?, the approach to mix looked too intimidating so didn't even try these guys)

Well it's simple for nightclubs as 20 is the legal age for drinking alcohol.  The explanation Weblo has posted is good.  And a reason why I avoid Areca Lodge.

If you bring a girl with no proof of identification to some hotels, they will simply get you to sign a release of their responsibilities form. And they tell the girl, next time they will turn her away.

Are the LK Group hotels as strict about it?

I have stayed a few times in the LK group hotels.

I have never bothered with the check in procedure, I simply walk past the reception, with my lady friend.

Apart from one time, when they called me back, and I said to them, 'it is ok, she is my friend'.

Definitely not "a lot".   It would be nice to read a justification for such a policy.  Best to avoid this hotel.  Are the LK Group hotels as strict about it?

Never had a prob with LK Metropole

Thanks weblo. Anyone else have personal experience of getting around reception? Is the side/pool door fully

accessible 24/7?

I don't think that works for Evergreen Wing.

A lot of the hotels decline overnight guests under 20 .

really?  which others?  I have only heard of this with Areca...  nevermind Jerry, read what you had to say already!

not that I am looking for 18-19 year old girls, but I would pass on Areca because of this policy, as I pass on hotels that charge for a 2nd girl...

I consider both to be not monger friendly.
