Mosquito in Pattaya 4000 baht bite.

I got a bite on my foot a week ago and the other night after being on Walking Street all night, my foot started to swell up. The pain was immense and i was just able to drive back, then i had to crawl around, it was so painful i didnt sleep until real late and rolled in at work late.

I was thinking its something terrible. Then i wake up and take some anti-histamins and it seems to get better.

2-3 days later....

Then last night i do a 12 hour night deep sea fishing trip, we had to end it at 5.00am and get back to the ground, because i was in imbearable pain. An hour or 2 later we were back on ground and i could only do a few steps, i had to pay a thai taxi driver to take my motorbike and a thai man to take me in his pickup. (if people want a report on the deep sea fishing let me know)

Today I go to the Thai doctor and he seems very good and honest, he told me if i got the same treatment at Bangkok hospital they would charge double.

He decides that i need several injections and thinks that injecting swollen foot will be impractical, so he tries to put me on a drip, on the fourth painful attempt he is able to get the juice flowing, by now he uses spray on glue to stick all the holes back together in the back of my hand. He injectes the drip bag will all the stuff needed. Anti- biotics, anti- inflammitory and anti- histamine (i think) 15 minutes later and the bag is empty.

He sent me away with lots of tablets and crap, over prescription i think. Now tomorrow i have to go back for another drip fest.

4000 baht in total, and the mosquito didnt even offer me a sip!!!

Lesson learnt... dont get bitten

I had the last laugh with tee rak, a few weeks ago i was figuring out what injections she needed. She came in the room looking all cute and laughing, so i asked the doctor to give her the hep B vaccine to start her off, poor girl is so small the needle is twice as big as her, after she came in with a dead arm, giving me a joking evil stare.

This is another issue i dont hear guys talking about, is tee rak uptodate with her vaccines, most have had BCG, and they have polio 6 months old etc. BUT as far as i can tell they need Hep A and Hep B. As for tetanus, i havent asked yet. Thats at least 5 injections tee rak has to look forward to hehe

Hep B comes in three injections, 700 baht so far, not sure if thats for all 3, but i will find out soon.

That is cheap.

i got my second one last week for HEP A+B in one same injection.

it was 54 euro(2200 baht) and that was my second one,and in 6 months i need a 3rd one.

so that will be 6600 for compleet injection against HEP A+B

but doctor said its lifetime secured

I got a bite on my foot in Brunei and ended up with real problems in my legs caused by a reaction.

The doctor told me that he didnt think it was a mosquito but something else. he asked me if i had een near water and i said yes, on a river trip and I got out of the boat to walk oin the bank.

That explains it he said but he left it at that.

I had to have a biopsy and loads of blood tests in pattaya plus lots of tablets, total cost was around 175000 bht.

Claimed most of it back on Insurance though.

Cheers Mick

I also think you got bitten by a Spider.

I have seen black widows nesting in machines up in Canada ship from the south when it was setup on location.

I had no idea it could be a spider, it just looked like a mosquito bite which started to get inflamed a few days later. Foot is still swollen but I've finished being on a drip.

Thanks for your replies.

I had similar a few months ago but fortunately it was on my calf so although in a lot of pain I could walk OK.

Doctor told me it was probably an ANT!! WTF

Biggest problem about them is that take an age to heal regardless of the drugs and creams.
