How many tourist visas in a row?

Featured Replies

I've been here 9 months now on tourist visas, I had a single entry for 3 months and a double entry that I used for 6 months. Can I go to Laos and get a third tourist visa for another 6 months or is there a chance they are going to say no?

If they have not stamped on your last tourist visa in red "don't come here again for another tourist visa" then you will be issued with a 6 months but that will probably be the last,

In Loas they do not tend to say NO unless they have said No previously.

Thanks guys, that's probably what I'll do then! Not sure if I want to commit to a whole year right now (ED), wanna travel a bit more later this year.

You can still travel on an ED visa as different schools have different options when it comes to lessons. Some schools also offer 6 month ED visas

I think you need a permit to leave or something? Get it at immigration, more hassle. Also, it's 1000 Dollars that I only want to spend if I'm actually gonna be here for a year.

Cool, that's good to know!

Yes, with the ED visa you would need a re-entry permit from immigration. The advantage of the ED visa is that there are no 90 day border runs required. How cost effective it is would depend on your length of stay and where you would be travelling to/from whilst here.

Always watch for the small print LOL

I had no idea you cannot get unlimited tourist visas? Does this apply to stamps at the border too?

I thought expats live there for years just doing border runs to Malaysia or Cambodia, etc?

I'm confused?

after 4 or so tourist visas from neighboring countries they might refuse  ( KL/Sing/Penang are more strict that Laos or Cambodia) u as ur obviously NOT a tourist.

You will than have to return to Europe/Oz or the states to get more tourist visas,

As far as i am aware u can do unlimited land border ( 15 days) /fly in  (30 days) entries but it would get expensive.

Cheaper to go to school an get a ed visa and learn something at the same time

So how do you go about getting an ed visa. I wouldn't mind learning Thai and how much does it cost?

Plenty of schools all over Thailand and in most major tourist areas,  google for the city u wish t be in.

25-28,000 baht/year 200 hour course ( usually 2 days/week) and it entities u to a 1 year extension.

Just found a list of schools and info on the visa. Thanks for the advice, looks like it's back to school for me

Hi Excited there are schools to stay away from if you PM me I will give you some examples of schools I recommend and which area?
