Burglars wearing balaclavas invaded a luxury rental home on Soi Bonkai while a German family of four slept inside. They fled when family members woke up. The thieves had disabled the home’s CCTVs, and police suspect the intruders were familiar with the property.

PATTAYA – April 9, 2013 [PDN]; At 2:30 a.m., a report of burglars invading the rented house of a German family was received by Pol. Maj. Capt. Nakornraj Nonseelard, detective officer of the shift; and Pol. Col. Vissanu Chaisuwarn, vice suppression inspector.

The incident occurred at house number 184-109, soi Bonkai, south Pattaya, moo 10, Nongprue, Banglamoong, Chonburi.

Officers arrived at the scene, a luxury 2-story, Thai-style house with a swimming pool, occupying an area of 1 rai and encircled by a fence and installed CCTVs.

Waiting for the police in shock was the German family, Mr. Abdulla, 35 years old, and Mrs. Mariam, 30 years old; with their boy and girl. The German family told police that they had come to travel in Thailand a short while ago, and were renting the house.

The parents and children slept on the ground floor in adjoining rooms. They had turned off the light to sleep as usual. But while they were sleeping, a man came in their home, wearing black T-shirt and a black balaclava, to steal their properties.

The sleeping family suddenly awakened in shock at hearing his presence, and turned on the light. So the parents rushed to escape, but then they heard the sound of their kids screeching, and were afraid their kids were being hurt by the masked stranger, so they went to check.

Luckily, the kids were fine. The kids told them they had screamed because another man had come in the house. The parents turned on the lights in the entire house, and called the police and their farang friends to help.

The police dispersed their officers to find the thieves, but have not found them yet. The victims pointed the police where to check for traces of the break in. Police discovered that the intruders came into the property from the back fence next to the nearby house. They had used a plastic chair to step on to climb over the fence. Then they opened the gate at the side of the swimming pool to gain access to the house.

The burglars knew that there was a CCTV in the house, at the gate, so they used a cloth to cover the CCTV monitor, so the police could not identify them. The burglars also took an LCD monitor used to control the CCTV and tape footage that was installed on the wall in the house. They also took out the hard disk too.

Police suspected there were 2-3 burglars stealing property from the German family. The thieves took a shoulder bag containing some money, including the kids’ cloth bag they found in the house to search for properties, and dropped them at the fence. The burglars then returned to steal a Lado watch, and an iPhone 4s, which the victim had left on the desk.

Then the thieves entered the bedrooms where family members were sleeping, to steal more property. But the victims awakened, so the burglars escaped. Police assumed that the thieves fled on motorcycles they had parked outside to get away. The police wrote the police journal to record all the testimonies thoroughly.

Officers assumed that the thieves must know the place well, because they knew the CCTVs were installed, and they knew where to escape, and which route to use. However, the police will investigate to find the thieves to prosecute as soon as possible.
