I'm afraid there's more to come .

Just saw this on the XE application on my iPhone.  VERY depressing -- looked like the baht was starting to drop a little, then it made a huge jump the last 2 days.  

 

There is an eternity between now and my next rip, so hopefully the baht slows some before then.  

 

REALLY kicking myself for not drawing out more baht from the ATM when I was there in February to "hold" for my next trip.

when it ever hits 25bt / $.. im going start playing in AC again. and hopfully by then i will have try out cambo. but 25bt/$ is my breaking point .

Prices in Cambo are going up quick so i'm afraid that will not be a real option .

Peso now at 41.26 and was around 43 to 44 last year. AC is also my alternative to Patts

& its going to get worse! I'm already budgeting for an extra $400-500 for the loss i might encounter for my August trip 

Right now on XE.COM it's at 28.91, the lowest it's ever been. 

 

I was in the middle of actively searching for a home to buy. I have now stopped looking for a home and will use that money to live on for a few years to come.  Thailand is not so cheap anymore.

i don't know why guys don't index into baht as a bank account.  14  month notes pay 3.2% at least it is a hedge.  I put 10 years of rent into baht so i would be immune

I remember when it was an all time high of THB41 per US dollar back in the late 80's.  Life was good in the Kingdom!  The baht to dollar was pretty consistent & never fell below THB 35-31/US dollar.  However, it is now under the THB/30 @ 29 mark & really depressing.  Although the current drop & inconsistency of the US dollar/THB, I still remain optimistic for the good.  High or Low!  You can never put a price on the quality of life in Thailand but, I hope it gets better...

Why oh why does my timing always suck... when I needed business loan years back, I was paying 20% .. now that I am on edge of retirement with a couple bucks, banks are paying .2% (if lucky)...  

 

and now the Baht    falls below 29 to 1.     And I am 48 days away from wheels up...  

 

We need to stick together and insist that the BGs adjust rates accordingly!    Yeah I am sure I know what they would say...

This is crazy, man!!!  Today I wired some money to Thailand through Western Union as the exchange rate quoted THB 29.0201 to the US dollar.  After the money was wired, the exchange rate on my receipt quoted THB 27.8398.  WTF!!! 

Just when you thought the dollar could not get any lower pretty soon Americans will be breaking even why is the pound so strong and dollar going to hell
