Hi, I'm trying to book hotels in BKK and Patts at the moment. I was wondering will the hotels "free up a bit" after songkran? Seems pretty full everywhere next week so I might wait till the following week after the water is used up.

As far as I'm concerned, after Songkran is the true start of the low season.  Yes, many hotels should have vacancies.

Anyone who cannot cope with mathematics is not fully human. At best he is a tolerable sub-human who has learned to wear shoes, bathe, and not make messes in the house.

Do not forget to check out differe.t Sites as sone you may view only have X amount of rooms allocated to them hence why availability may be lacking.

You are correct though this May and June does seem busy more than the last few years IMO

Hi,

I'm in exactly the same position. I want to come to Patts now but wonder whether I should wait???

Go on line is the answer.

Get the fuck out of thailand during Songkran

A lot of ex-pats leave for songkran and a lot of younger guys come just for songkran and leave after it so yes things get quieter after that.

+1 hotels have to give booking sites a specific number of rooms so they can confirm instant reservations - doesn't mean the hotel is full.  Check another site as recommended above or go direct to the hotel's website.  Historically, after Songkran, most hotels in Pattaya run around 50% vacancy and offer low season promotional rates and discounts for longer stays.

If you are still looking for a good hotel in Bangkok, try Kingston Suites, Soi 15.  It is half-way between Nana and Soi Cowboy, easy walk in either direction and close to Nana BTS.  Small boutique hotel, great rooms with huge bathrooms and walk-in shower for two. Guest friendly and very friendly staff, free WiFi and a above average breakfast buffet.
