A 44-year-old female and former Chonburi politician was arrested after being caught with 14,000 meth pills. After losing her re-election bid, she became a drug courier to pay her campaign debt and the hospital bills of her ailing mother. Her new boss was a Chonburi prison inmate.

PATTAYA – April 8, 2013 [PDN]; At 3:30 a.m., the arrest of a local former politician for dealing drugs was announced by Pol. Col. Suwan Cheawnawinthawat, Superintendent, Pattaya police station, together with the detective police team.

The suspect was identified as Mrs. Natthanan or Neung Rattanaveerakarn, age 44, who is the former chairman of Nong Heang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Chonburi province; and the kamnan inspector of the same area.

Police seized the evidence of 7 packs of amphetamine totaling 14,000 pills, a mobile phone, and the car she was driving to deliver the drugs, a black Toyota Altis. The arrest resulted after the police were informed by their spy that Mrs. Natthanan would be driving the car to deliver amphetamines to customers at the motorway road on the entrance side to Bangkok, Tambon Takheantia, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province.

So the police brought the forces of the police team to watch for her, until they saw the suspicious car parked on the side of the road, and saw her throw away stuff out of the car. So the police asked to search the stuff, and found 1 pack of amphetamines of 2,000 pills, and arrested Mrs. Natthanan, the car driver.

The police also later found and seized 6 packs of amphetamine totaling 12,000 pills that were hidden in the room of the defendant located in Tambon Borwin, Amphur Sriracha, Chonburi province.

During questioning, Mrs. Natthanan claimed she was bringing amphetamine to deliver to customers, and had been hired by “Mr. Mek,” a male prisoner in Chonburi prison. She would get paid 2,500 THB each time for delivering 1 pack of amphetamines.

Previously, she used to be the kamnan inspector, and then she was appointed to be the deputy chairman of Nong Heang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Chonburi province. But she failed to get re-elected from the local people.

So she quit from politics and turned her life to be an agent of the amphetamine dealer, because she wanted to find money to pay for her campaign debts. Also, she wanted money to pay for medical treatment for her mother, who is sick with a constricted blood vessel in her brain in the hospital in upcountry.
