I was wondering if anyone knows anywhere around Pattaya I can do some fly fishing? Bringing my travel rod, reel and a few flies just in case.

I am an avid fisherman myself. Other than ocean fishing, there is fishing parks outside of patts. Catch and release only for catfish and other species. Leave your rod at home. The locals fish for squid on the beach at night using rapalas..

Some good fly fishing for Barramundi between Pattaya and Bangkok. I can't remember the name of the place but will try and find it for you. One of the best fighting fish on fly or spinner. Fish up to 20 kgs average 5-7 kgs, cost about 200 bits and if you want to take some home you can purchase them, they will even BBQ and wrap them in foil for you

Forgot to mention, they have a tackle shop on site that sell good flies for catching Barramundi.

One thing you may look into is fishing with hand made frogs. Thailand is a great place to pick up lures, flies etc as alot of the building for the states is done in Thailand. Where to go in Patts I'm not sure though.

Thanks, I'd love to know where this place is. Just fancy something different as I've been coming to Thailand for about 5 years and went fishing on the Mekong for catfish but never heard of any fly fishing. I have a nice small 5 piece smuggler type rod which will easily go in my case along with a reel and a few flies.

Fly Fishing at Bor Num, Bang Pakong, Thailand

Bor Num is set out so that around 40% of the perimeter of the pond has a clear area for back cast so it is ideal for fly fishing beginners and the more experienced hands as well, the shop has a limited number of fly rods for hire and basic instruction is available from the staff at Bor Num. The price for fly fishing is the same as the other rods at 100THB per rod per day and rod hire is 100 THB per day.

The fly fishermen seem to have a better catch rate than the other lure methods so a great days fishing is almost certain.

My equipment is an 8 weight rod and floating 8WF line and a fly usually used for sea trout - again the staff at Bor Num will recommend a fly if you take a selection or a limited selection are available in the on site shop.
