Air Asia opens South Pattaya office

Discount airline Air Asia opened an office in Pattaya, giving flyers another way to book travel plans usually managed only online or via telephone.

 

The customer service center at the Tesco-Lotus mall in South Pattaya is the carrier’s 12th branch in Thailand. While some travel agents book tickets on Air Asia, most of its business is handled through its website or over the telephone.

Sales manager Nattapol Banphakan said the center is the first full-fledged office on the Eastern Seaboard, which Air Asia considers a fast-growing market. The airline previously operated a small booking counter at the Tukcom shopping mall.

The airline, he said, hopes to increase services by launching flights at U-Tapao-Pattaya International Airport.

Assuming that the girl with the tongue isn't actually on the desk, it's difficult to see the advantage of going there versus booking online, but it's an interesting commitment.

 

I wonder what the likelihood is of them flying out of Utapao in the foreseeable future - that would be handy.

If they flew to U-Tapao I would consider flying with them again.

Very convenient-that's where I shopped when I lived in Jomtien.

I use them all the time and find their internet booking very easy to use so I cant see any real advantage in a shop. At one time their call answering on the help line was terrible and a shop would have been an advantage but it seems to have improved a lot now. 

From Gold Coast they are generally good value for money. I stopped using them as the service is terrible.

That's the extra $'s you pay for with a full service airline!

Have flown Air Asia many times over the years including one of the very first flights from Stanstead in the UK. My last flight was in December 2011 up to Chiang Mai.   

Yes they are cheaper but when there is a problem you are left in the shite..... I remember trying to contact one of their agents when trying to ring from the UK to a K.L. Malasian phone centre...eventually giving up a few times after hanging on the phone for more than 30- minutes and this cost me a packet. Eventually they answered one my e-mails but it took them a week to reply.

Now they have moved from Survanabhumi to Don Muang, that is even more trouble getting from Pattaya.

Usually it is just talk........but if they do start flying out of U-Tapao then that will certainly put them back on my radar. And a face to face with a real person could also open the door to my custom. 

Not sure what the point of a Pattaya office is, can you BF the staff? wonder if they will ever fly from U-tapao, I flew Don Muang to Bali a few months ago, 4hr flight, cheap and functional, bring your own food, their meals were average.
