VIDEO – Backpacker gets Battered near Khaosan Road

I came up here for a quiet weekend, and look what I get.

I prevented this guy on the video below from getting a major head injury, from a bottle from behind, knowing how cowardly these Thai male pricks are when they attack as pack animals, but I didn’t expect to see this near Khaosan Road, in a quiet thoroughfare in Bangkok’s international backpacking district.

Fuck knows what it was about but obviously that shirtless farang had been in contact in some way with those Thais, probably scoring something by the appearances of everyone. Anyway, as I said in the other thread about the farang beating. Have nothing at all to do with fucking Thai men. I'll talk with a waiter in a restaurant or a guy working in a 7-11, or the immigration man at Swampy. That's about the total extent of my own involvement with Thai males.

I hear you mate but it's just not that simple. As I've clearly stated twice this evening I have learned (the hard way) to have absolutely fuck all to do with Thai men. I mind my own business, I don't look at Thai men or talk to them, I sure as shit don't walk into any joint where Thai men are drinking and try to be friends with them. So if I see see farang getting the crap beaten out of him by Thais I presume he has been fucking stupid by associating with Thai men in some way. So I'm not going to assist the farang and get stomped just because he's done something very fucking stupid.

I just got half of it. And he took two shots in the face before then, that had the Thai guy pushing his knuckles into a bucket of ice to stop them hurting him.

 

The twat with the pony tail who tried to bottle him from behind would have done him some damage though. 

 

I think the backpacker guy was on something, and the two American girls he was with really didn't want the police involved, and after it happened they said something to him like "you've got to remember we're in Thailand.' There was such a non-shock about it to them that it just didn't feel right to me.

Agreed we need to at least try and break it up, surely? I'm no hard bastard but i can look after myself when i have to. A fight is 1 on 1 but 4 on 1 is cowardly and I will certainly step in if I see this when I'm there. I've done the same here in my city a few times(mostly to good effect, but also some good cuts and bruises to show for it) and will extend this ethic to Thailand. If for no other reason that to tell the cowards that some ppl will get involved and not just watch it happen.

Good point....it's a pity nobody seems to know what provoked the attack. In my experience, Thais don't kick off against tourists wih no reason. It may well be an overreaction but we dont know.

 

Also, sad to see the ignorant comments about all Thai men. I've got plenty of Thai friends in Bangkok, very civilised and cultures, educated abroad etc. it's true working class guys can have a pack mentality but don't don't usually attack someone without ANY provocation...

Personally I think it's disgusting how these Thai men attack in packs. That's why I have nothing to do with them. It's just too easy to have some very minor understanding.

 

Every now and then a lone farang is attacked by Thai men for no reason. Yes, it happens. But in 95% of cases the farang has interacted with the Thais beforehand. Cease attempting interaction and greatly lower the risk of being attacked.

Yes, agree, there are cultured and well educated Thai men, but the usual tourist doesn't meet these types, the usual tourist meets the working class/low class ratbags that hang around bars and hang around the tourists centers. It's can be risky to interact with these Thai men, especially for someone who is unfamiliar with Thai ways.

 

And you're right they won't usually attack without provocation. So if the farang in all these vids avoided Thai men they wouldn't have got the stompings they got. It's that simple. These types of Thai men are like soi dogs. If you don't want to be bitten by soi dogs then give soi dogs a wide berth. Don't stop and play with the soi dogs and you'll greatly lower your risk of been bitten by soi dogs.

Ok speaking on a personal level and in the 20 over years of living  here,im 60 by the way ,I've never and i repeat never get into arguments with the locals,be it male or female generally Thais wont bother you except to sell you something,treat them with respect and you will receive respect back they are not like young westerners looking for a fight on a Saturday night for kicks,so those of you who think they are looking to beat up some farang are basically talking crap,thats your western thinking and what its like on the back streets of London or new York or somewhere.Thai guys generally keep to themselves,they fall out and argue and sometimes fight but its between themselves,its only when you the farang tread on there toes they can turn nasty,I've seen many arrogant farangs here over the years who think there the bees knees shouting there big mouths off and taking the piss out of the locals especially when there pissed,So before you all jump to that guys defense,better learn all the facts,maybe he insulted some of the locals I've seen it many times before and of course i just stand back and let them kick the arrogant shit out of him, Don't come over here and play the big shot ok have fun and enjoy yourselves sure,but mind your manners.

I've experienced myself and so have friends of mine that in many situations as a Falang in Thailand you do not have basic human rights, even if Police is nearby (or involved for that matter).

 

Also from a close friend's experience I know that Thais will not fight one on one but gang up on someone, it's common here... with Police not intervening.

 

My takeaway from that is to avoid any and all confrontation here, we're guests and the hosts have their flaws, it's our choice to decide to accept their hospitality anyway and avoid problems. It's still better here than in most Latin American or African countries where crime, armed robbery and violence are FAR more common than here.

 

Of course knowing what led to the beating in the first place might change many a BM's opinion about this video.
