Gasohol in Thailand is usually E10, which has 10% ethanol. There may be a few places with E20, which is 20% ethanol. It is government policy to encourage the use of gasohol, and eventually phase gasoline out completely, for reasons best known to themselves. 

 

Most cars sold in Thailand since the mid nineties are E10 compatible, as are motorcycles sold since the mid noughties. Older vehicles will usually run OK on gasohol, but the fuel systems are not compatible. Gasohol will make a mess of them.... as I discovered on my 1997 scoot, which has over 200,000 km on the clock and is still good for better than 100mpg (US).

 

Until recently gasoline 91 was widely available, costing about 12% more than gasohol 91. It was popular with motorcyclists riding both old and new machines. Now gasoline 95 (sold as "benzine") is available at only a few gas stations, priced at about 30% more than gasohol 91. For riders of old motorcycles, such as mine, it is the only option at this stage.
