BKK Immigration Queue

Featured Replies

Two questions for the BM and travelers of LOS.

1. How heavy is the traffic (Arrival Passengers) at BKK Immigration between 1:00 pm (13:00) ~ 2:00 pm (14:00) on a Friday?

2. When is the worst time (time of day) to arrive at BKK Immigration to check into the Kingdom?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks beforehand.

You are outside of high season and with the exception of songkran should be little problem.  Remember too that they likely gear the number of working staff to the number of arrivals therefore there may be little advantage to lesser crowds.  Just avoid an overload situation like Xmas or New Years.

Know that there are multiple immigration qeueu's, if the first one is too busy, just keep walking in the big corridor and you'll find a second possibility for qeueuing.

I haven't had any problems for a couple years on arrival. I've got a bunch of unused Fastrack cards in fact. It's luck of the draw though. Planes don't always arrive right on time.- sometimes an A380 gets in just ahead of you and you're fucked.

I saw BFS and was contemplating to reserve their service or not.  In the end I went ahead and bite the bullet, I reserved their Arrival Service with electric cart.  Not bad for the price.  Just need to figure out whether to check bag or get away with a carry on and backpack.  Either way, thanks for the suggestion.

Last trip I used Bangkok Flight Services. They picked me up at the gate and I was through immigration 5 min later.

In ten trips I have only seen a huge line once for a 08:20 arrivial on a saturday, but I was travelling bussiness class so feeling like a smug twat I just used the fast track lanes. I arrived on a Friday, Sunday and Monday before this and have never seen any hold up's at immigration.

My next flight is cattle class so I have book BFS just to be sure.

I will be coming to Bangkok from Taipei, Taiwan on Eva air Business class, is there a special custom line for business class  or are there just one line for everyone?  Also someone said that if the first custom line is packed, just keep going to the next line.  Can someone tell me how many custom lines are there?  Thanks

Hell I must always arrive at the wrong time, usually about 15-16:00 hrs the queues are horrendous and getting worse in fact a couple of trips back a fight broke out I have never seen airport security staff disappear so quickly. Last trip I was amazed it only took 40 minutes as trip before 1 hour 40mins.

If you are travelling business class they should give you a fastrack card on the plane, which means you use a separate channel between the two immigration halls - the card has a location map on the back. There are two immigration halls (each with many lines) so if one is busy it is sometimes worth the 5 min walk to the other. Doesn't matter if you use the fastrack channel.

Thanks for the information.  It is good that business class will have a fastrack line since I will be coming in the middle of rush hour at 3:30pm.  I will make sure to ask if I don't receive a fastrack card on the plane.

Could someone clarify when you book bfs on there web site do you pay via the site or when you get there ?

I just booked with them and I paid with my CC at time of booking.  I'm not sure if they gives you the option to pay at arrival.  I could be wrong though.

It's low season. I have landed in High season at about noon (aka lunch break) and there was maybe 4 or 5 people in front of me.

Some notes....

Pee before you land

Get off the plane (better if you are in the forward parts like middle class) as efficiently as possible.

walk on the people movers, don't just stand there (so you can pass as many people as possible)

Make sure your ARRIVAL card is completely filled out before you get off the plane and have it tucked in your passport on your VISA page or open page (if getting an entry ON ARRIVAL)

Everyone on the plane (almost) is going to go through immigration, best to get in front of them.

Thanks for the info tango will more than likely book BFS closer to the time of my flight in september.

Compared to many international airports I have found BKK good. I have rarely had to wait more than 10 mins. Compare that to SydneyAustralia where trip before last I had a 45 min delay and that was with a n Aussie passport, not epassport. a few weeks ago i used DM - only one person in front of me.  Really important to have all your doc in order so you can rush through Immigration for the longer wait at the baggage collection!

I've arrived both during the day around 10 ish and at night around 11:30 pm.

Been crowded and not so crowded both times.

Just a luck of the draw I guess, but that walk to immigration from the plane takes FOREVER.
