Howdy!

If i have a double-entry visa in my passport and plan on staying to the fullest with it in Thailand (180 days, 60+30, 60+30) and then leave again to either Cambodia, Vietnam or Malaysia... which of these three alternatives is best for me who has a swedish passport to get a new double-entry visa to Thailand? I rather not fly back to Stockholm for a new double-entry visa. Would be much cheaper to just do 4 monthly VOA runs to Cambodia/Vietnam/Malaysia by air.

Get yourself a 2nd passport and then you send back the 2nd Passport for a new visa while in Thailand. Then you leave Thailand with Passport 1 and present passport 2 at immigration in Singapore (or Loaos or whereever) and again when you leave Singapore. Now you return to Thailand with Passport 2. Worked for me :-) Now repeat as often as you please .

Appearently this is not working with the usal visa runs where you hand over your passport at the border... (To my understanding it is illegal to obtain a new visa while still in Thailand but the embassy in Europe did not mind at all sending the passport back to Thailand) Still better have someone to bring you your second passport while he is visiting you.

I'm in a simular situation having a 60 day visa and need 30 more days. I got a great sale on Air Asia to Cambodia about $136 RT. Maybe not the cheapest, but I finally decided to visit Angkor Wat and while I'm there, I'll do a few days in Sihanoukville and a few days in Phnom Penh, a full trip.

I went to Phnom Penh last year to get a 60 visa and it was easy. I was a little uncomfortabel giving my passport to a Cambodia guy and returning in the morning but it all went well and was super easy for me. The only thing you have to watch out for is the visa will say it's good for 90 days, but what it means is it must be used within 90 days and is good for only 60 days in country.

Only laos ( in the area) currently is issuing double entry tourist visas.

Just book in to Savana Vegas for a couple of days in Savannakhet and they'll do it all for you.

Cheapest way is a trip to Laos which is a one night stay and get a double entry tourist visa

Can't do that (kind of) as it's not allowed to have two swedish passports at the same time. I am however a citizen in two EU countries so i could technically get a second passport (done that before) from my other country but it feels like that this kind of "behaviour" is in the gray zone of immigration law so i'll skip that.

I've never heard of anyone having 2 passports for the same country. You must always cancel your previous passport when getting a new one issued. You can of course have dual nationality, like the example you give, but you'll come unstuck switching from one to the other traveling from Thailand to neighboring countries as the entry/exit stamps won't match up. You could make it work by flying in and out, going through major airports like S'Pore or KL, but that'll become expensive.

Americans are allowed to hold two passports Legally

...US citizens can legally possess two passports. Yes, you can have the normal 10-year passport plus a second, limited validity passport, normally valid for 1 or 2 years. Commonly referred to as "Duplicate Passports",...

Sly, the UK also allow you to hold 2 x passports but only if you get sponsorship letters from your employer confirming you need an additional passport because of applying for visas and waiting etc it is normally for guys who work offshore in countries like Nigeria,

They don't like it but they do it,

Same goes for Holland, you can get a second passport trough your employer.

Interesting, I'd never heard of this having two passports for the same country before. But I presume it's not a normal situation available to everyone, just available with certain conditions in special circumstances.
