Schoolboy Squabble Over Seat Triggers Shooting

A 16-year-old junior student was shot in the right buttock after refusing to give his seat in the exam room to a senior student. After the exam, the boy was riding on a motorbike in the north Pattaya area, and was shot at by someone in a Honda Jazz automobile, which then fled the scene.

PATTAYA – March 9, 2013 [PDN]; A report of a teen being shot on soi Potisarn near Naklua was received by police of Muang Pattaya police station. Notifying police was the staff at Bangkok-Pattaya hospital.

The police went to the hospital to check, and found the medical team helping “Mr. Saran,” age16, who was shot once in the right buttock. After the medical team had helped the boy, the police questioned him.

The boy told police he went to take an exam for the junior high level, at the Non-Formal Education school, at the exam field of Potisampan Pittayakarn. The final exam was for students who had failed to receive their school certificates in regular school.

The boy chose the seat nearby the window. But an older student, about 20 years old, came along and told him that he wanted the seat. But the younger boy refused to give up his seat. So the two began quarreling. The teacher in the exam room came to restrain them. The older student then threatened the younger boy that he would hurt him afterwards.

After the exam was finished, the younger boy and his friends went to have noodles. While the victim was riding his motorcycle, two vehicles pulled up alongside and passed him slowly, a Toyota pickup, and a modified black Honda Jazz sedan. Someone from the Honda shot at him once, and then both vehicles escaped.
