Nadal pleased by winning return to hardcourt

Indian Wells, California (dpa) - Rafael Nadal fought through his return to hardcourts after nearly a year away from the surface, with the fifth seed pleased by an opening win over American Ryan Harrison 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at the Indian Wells Masters on Saturday.

Welcome back Nadal, its back to the big four again.

I think it might be a while yet before Rafael Nadal gets back to something near his best .

 

It was a serious injury he sustained and 6 or 7 months out of the game in tennis terms is a long time , especially as his game is built round his physical presence on the court . Novak Djocovic and Andy Murray seem to be getting even stronger and signs that age might just be taking the edge off Roger Federer's game .

 

Even so Nadal , is good for the game and the next grand slam event is paris in may , his favourite clay court surface .
