Russia Man pleads his innocence in counterfeit US Dollar Bank Note Case.

On Tuesday Night, Police Lieutenant Colonel Wirawoot from Pattaya Police Station was called to the Tazzi Cloths Shop on the 1st floor of the Royal Garden Plaza to investigate reports of a Russian Tourist who had attempted to purchase items with US Dollar bank notes which appeared to be counterfeit. Police arrived and detained Mr. Denis Egorov aged 29. The manager of the shop, Khun Narin aged 35 explained that the suspect purchased items totaling 3,720 Baht. He did not have enough Thai currency with him at the time and had only US Dollars. Khun Narin took 200 US Dollars from him and exchanged the currency for Thai Baht, keeping 3,720 Baht for herself and giving back the remainder to Mr. Egorov who then left the shop. Khun Narin went to exchange the US Dollars and was told that the notes were counterfeit. She franticly searched the area for Mr. Egorov and found him just as he was leaving the Royal Garden Plaza. He was detained by Security Guards and the Police were called. At Pattaya Police Station, he claimed he had no idea that the notes were counterfeit and told officers that he received the notes from his friend. Police are now investigating the case and attempting to identify the origin of the notes and for now Mr. Egorov is continuing to assist Police with their enquiries.
