Hi guys,

I booked the LK Royal Wing in the internet (over the homepage of the Hotelgroup)

I was 1 day in Pattaya and because of personal reasons I had to leave thailand, I asked for to get the money back. The stuff said, no problem, they will charge 10% and 3nights. I was fine with that. They told me they pay the money to my kreditcard back. Now, 3 weeks later, I didnt get any money back, I asked a friend who is living in pattaya to ask the hotel, they said they dont know anything about it. I wrote 3 mails to the Hotelgroup but didnt get an answer.

I lost 15.000 Baht. Great !

Thx LK Group.

Ask your Bank (Credit Card Issuer) to get involved.  They will put the transaction in "dispute" status and will investigate.

I paid everything before my trip started (I think before 3month) So I cant get the money back from my bank !

Sorry to hear this, but I would first check what the hotel implements as a cancellation Policy and then see where you stand.

It is fine having somebody say something as a verbal exchange and Thai's are renowned to agree to almost anything then do FA about it after. They may of said this to your Face just for an easy life.

If you once checking the cancellation policy you see that you are within your rights for some Monies back then attach all evidence you checked out early Etc Etc and send to Head Office.

It would be my guess that you will get FA back as if paying in full on most Sites and with most hotels a Zero refund is given at short notice cancellation which is what yours seems to be

I am not sure the Heading LK Ripoff really is the best Title in this case however hard done by you feel.

Ghostie is correct in that you need to check the fine print with regards to the cancellation policy first.  It's not uncommon for discounted rooms to be charged at the full rate if you check out early and have paid everything up front.

For the future, use a booking service that only charges a holding deposit.

I've booked many times (including with the LK group) through asiawebdirect.com.  Your reservation is charged a small deposit, and the balance is payable at check-out.  Rates are still discounted, but with most hotels they have online you don't get charged the full amount if you leave early.

On a slightly more optimistic note, CC refunds can take between 7 -10 weeks to arrive back in your account.  You may yet get your refund, though I'll acknowledge the lack of response to your e-mails doesn't sound very promising.

Cheers

agree with ghosty,  tad harsh at this stage.

confirm   credit details with LK group, and get your credit card company involved        vias/mastercard  arent to be messed with lightly.

no way   3 months prior payment can invalidate claim.

follow up and report back please.

What do you want to hear? They dont replay to my emails and told my friend ... nothing. For me its "closed". I learned my lesson, I will never pay upfront in asia and never stay at LK hotels again. The bad thing is, I'm still a student and the 15.000 Baht are not sooo easy for me, but I cant change it.

I just want to warn you!

@Ghost, I got a page with the agreement of 3 nights + 10% charge when I leaved them, I have it still here.

Again you should listen to members who are far more experienced than you in the ways of los...I have stayed 4 times in LK metropole twice in the ren and also the one you a issue with never ever a problem, listen to the advice. They are correct your title is harsh this is a minor dispute with the hotel...it will be paid no matter how much you rant...No need to warn anyone about LK hotels they are full always and have many hotels that have served us very well for many years.

Question: have you contacted your credit card company and been told "sorry - the charge was too long ago" OR are you just assuming that?

Maybe I have a longer track record with my credit card companies or it's just how they do it here in the U.S., but they are usually pretty helpful in a situation like this.

I stayed at LK Metro one time having paid up front on my credit card. I moved out early and they refunded me in cash.

lots of solid advice here. The OP's just not hearing it.

I cancelled a booking with Hotels2Thailand recently and it took 2 months to get a credit card card refund, after i chased them many times. It pisses me off, if you book they charge within 1 day but if you cancel it takes them weeks to refund. I'll never book with H2T again.

lol  like anything in this world, it is only a "minor disagreement" if it doesn't concern YOU.... FFS, the bloke thinks he has been ripped off, that is his opinion and he very entitled to it.

Sure, he may not have read the fine print... so what? He is entitled to feel aggrieved... The guy will learn.. sounds like he already has, and is voting with his feet.

seems to me the LK mob are a bit like Koalas...  a protected species..

Exactly what i was going to say, it can take months to get refunded ...

I would try to do it anyway, the three month policy of some credit cards do not start until the date of the reservations when regarding vacation plans.

Hello to all.

thanks for the answers.

I want to tell you that I today checked my creditcard online. What did I see? YES, they paid exactly my money back (+servicecharge for using my creditcard abroad). Wow ! Very great, but veeeery late too. (71 days after check Out)

Anyway, I learned my lesson, I will never pay upfront.

"seems to me the LK mob are a bit like Koalas...  a protected species.."

Yea, absolutly true. LOL !

Take care and happy weekend.

Very hard to get replies from Thai people , They will s end if you owe them money.. Anyway, why dont you cut the loss and ask them to give you a free hotel in next trip to call it quits.

First of all, HOW, when they dont reply?

Secondly, in the next time I will not visit pattaya again, but thats another story. ;-)

That what i was trying to say... When you going over. But you say you wont be going over ever again? Sorry about that. Must be bad thing happening..

I am not sure of the time scales on this. If its a credit card refund then 28 would be fairly standard, perhaps even a minimum in some cases.

I COMPLETELY agree it can be annoying and I have NO idea if this delay is due to the hotels or the merchants but given that its very "normal" its a bit early to say they have "ripped him off".

If I were you I would sit tight a while as its quite "normal" for CC refunds to take many weeks to appear.

In a slightly different note, and NOT aimed at the OP just talking out loud, people do need to check the small print on "special deals".

Take flights as an example - in economy class you will usually have several "sub classes" for example (I am picking figures out of the air)

£500 - no cancellation, no changing of dates etc

£550 - all above available for another £100

£600 - all above available at no extra fee

Human nature usually says we seek the "cheapest" whilst not realy considering the best. We are always very grateful for good cheap deals but they do come at a price and sooner or later someone has an incident that makes them fall foul of the RULES. That is NOT the fault of the airline, nor is it a rip-off. Lets be honest how many of us REALLY read the small print, we just find the lowest price and book it.

In the case of airlines they sell these cheaper tickets first to cover fuel costs etc for the flight.
