Another word of warning.....glaucoma !!

 

Ten years ago while travelling around australia I lost my glasses in the surf. I went to get a new pair and the optician did a pressure test on my eyes. He told me the pressures were super high and I needed to see a specialist. When I said I would go on my return home, he said.. No, I meant immediately.

 

Long story cut short, I saw a specialist who diagnosed severe glaucoma in my left eye. I referred me to an opthalmic surgeon in my home town who operated when I got home. I had already lost a hell of a lot of my peripheral vision, side and bottom views. I had never noticed this.

 

Glaucoma is very common and it can be hereditary. If you are over say 45 years of age and visiting an optician for any reason, get a pressure check, it can save your eyes.

 

Good story! Hope you are doing better? Your story is exactly what I was trying to convey to people here on this forum. People come here get glasses and such and forget all about the other things that need to be checked within their eyes. I don't viagra and such since my cousin examine the back of my eye and saw a marking like a scratch.. she ask me if I was taking Viagra and I told her no, but I have tried it. She said don't because normally a marking like this comes from the use. After that was pointed out to me I thought back and remember the few times I did, I got real strong headaches and blurred vision. Get glasses where you want but get the other items checked out too!
