How do you support yourself in Pattaya?

I noticed a lot of younger guys under 40ish now in Pattaya driving cars etc.

 

unless these guys are living on savings or using credit cards then how do they survive?

 

Do u know many young farang guys who have their own business's here?

 

ok all of us CAN buy a business here if we want but most are making 20-50k a month in baht,would u want that be happy with that?

Plenty of ways to make money online and live where you want, I am sure thats what many of the young Russians do, young guys are born into the internet game.

I would guess that they must have some form of income billy.

 

I would think that most would be an internet income as to own a Thai business is a pain and wouldn't really generate enough to keep them all there.

 

I would think that if they have/own a Thai business? then it's just to get a work visa and not to make a serious profit from.

I have always been interested in Arb betting, but it can be very time consuming, and I always thought the multitude of sites offering software and services maybe a con or scam.

The age of ex pats is definitely coming down here.

 

In Bangkok when I worked there is was always mid 30s but those were corporate guys sent there for 2/3 years rather than guys who actually WANTED to work there.

 

7 years ago when I first moved to this area guys under 45 were there but it was rare. Now i would guess the average age is much lower with, as you say, many guys under 40 living here. Probably thanks to the following, although I dont claim this list to be conclusive.

 

Online working - either for themselves or remotely for employers who dont realy care where they are so long as the work gets done.

 

The offshore guys - not just oil and gas but shipping, dredging, industrial support etc. The offshore guys are 4 on 4 off usually and its as good a place as any to live.

 

The support industry sector is really booming, not just in Laem Chabang but also Ban Chang and (mainly) Mabtaput. Go into any bar in Ban Chang at 17.00 and you will see lots of guys in their 30s in boiler suits having a quick beer after a days slog in the chemo plants etc.

 

House price booms - allowing single guys in their 40s who have mortgage free property back home to rent out and live off rentals.
