Yeah, back in the original UFC days with no weight classes it was fun to watch but the reason weight classes are needed is due to power..

If a guy is huge, like a bodybuilder but unskilled, he is honestly not very difficult to beat for a skilled but much lighter fighter. But When you have 2 guys of equal skill and conditioning/stamina and one is 250lbs and the othere is only 150lbs, the 150lb guy is at a huge disadvantage as the heavier guy will know how to use his bodyweight to generate far more power that the lightweight can handle. Look at Royce Gracie, when he beat everyone easily in the first couple UFCs, most knew nothing about submissions but lately he has been getting his ass whipped by Matt Hughes, Sakuraba, Yoshida, etc. Reason being a smart fighteer evolves-he learns the effective striking and grappling and combines it. Royce cannot strike worth a shit but his submissions are awesome. Unfortunately for him being a one dimensional fighter is no longer enough to stay at the top.

Makes sense :LMFO: Royce is alot older too now but still these fighters these days are far more trained n skilled fighters than they were back .lol , I was wondering where Phil Baroni went and looked on another forum and found out he got tested postitive .I wouldnt doubt Mark Coleman does too he still looks great for his age .I thought they didnt test in Pride ....? Could be wrong

I love watching that stuff. The first real mixed martial arts contests I saw were tournaments in Japan, it seemed to be more like a form of wrestling where they kick. I kind of felt sorry for the foreign fighters as none of them seemed to know what they were getting into invariably the Japanese seemed to win but it seemed to be more down to them knowing the rules. The sport seems to have evolved greatly from the early days, with fighters now being pretty well skilled from the first time they enter a fight. Seen a few clips from the old days where some guys just didn't belong in the ring as they soon found out. Saw a clip of one guy who came into the ring dancing Bruve Lee style showing off for the crowd. The other guy a big wrestler type watched him for about 30 seconds then picked him up and drove him into the canvass, snapped his neck almost clean through you could see it clearly. Kind of makes you cringe watching those sort of ones.

I am completely clueless about the sports on TV or names etc.

But I started out with Ju-jitsu for 2 years, then karate for a year.

Then I found MMA its the best martial arts ever. We did alot of Muay Thai kicks, and more grappling than I thought needed. Previously I took some steroids and weightlifted which helped my strength alot. I recently trained to be a bouncer and got qualified, however i was disappointed they dont teach the physical side, for fear of being sued.

I used to love ju-jitsu and karate, all them holds and throws, but MMA is straight to the point, brute force and no messing around. I had to fight this ju-jitsu guy once, while he was doing a spinning kick, i just kicked him real hard and it was over. I laugh at all the time i spent loving the arty martial arts.

So I went back to the MMA teacher and said I wanna learn holds more. I really want to get back into something now, i am in Pattaya.

I recommend MMA for bad backs, all the grappling strengthened up my back. For the MMA specialists, i did "crazy monkey" form, named after the head block system.

Interesting video here of a Kiai Grand master v a MMa fighter.

The challenge was put by the Kiai Master that no MMA fighter could beat him.So the contracts were sighned & this is the result.

Kiai martial arts acording to Wikipedia.

In martial arts, the term commonly refers to a short yell that some martial artists shout before or during a fight or technique. Korean martial arts may call this sound a Yatz or Kihap (기합). In bujutsu (Japanese arts of war), it is usually linked to the inner amassing of energy released in a single explosive focus of will. Students of martial arts such as aikido, karate, kendo, taekwondo or judo (or related arts such as taiko drumming) use kiai to focus energy when executing a technique. It also refers to the shout that accompanies some techniques when performing kata. Kiaijutsu is the Japanese art of using kiai when performing martial arts.

The FIGHT.

that "master" uses derron brown style tricks, all of his students think he has special powers and drop like flies without him hitting them, they dont want to embarrass him either. As proven useless in a real fight. good video

I'd rather watch k1 than mma to be honest. Too much wrestling around on the floor is a bit boring after a while, although i did watch a film called "the smashing machine" which is a documentary of an american guy called mark carr. he's fucking badass and lives up to the name of the film but you see a human side to the guy as well through the doco. My country is well represented in k1 with ray sefo and mark hunt but ray sems a bit old now and i think mark is a bit too fat, he is samoan though so he probably can't help it. Not to take the piss roidfreak but are you or were you on the gear? i guess you have the option of pleading the 5th here.

I also prefer to watch K1 & loved watching Ray Sefo in his early days.

A real Bad ass :10:

But i have 100% respect for these UFC & Pride fighters.

Yes some fights can be so boring zzzZZZ.

But you get some cracking entertainment too.

Lol..Me on the gear? Bro, my boardname is ROIDFREAK, Ofcourse I do cycle gear, I would estimate over 90% of pro fighters do it. Not specifically to get as huge as possible-this would defeat the purpose but also to enhance strength, stamina, aggression, etc. Performance enhancing drugs are almost a must in the upper echelon of pro sports. I just tell it like it is, "there's no shame in my game.." I have met Mark Kerr, true - a real badass, the best ground n pound fighter in his heyday then too much Growth Hormone caused him sugar depletion when he fought Fujita in Japan halfway through the fight then he went downhill from there.

Mark Hunt may be fat bro but he's one of the few guys who have beat Vanderlei Silva in No Holds Barred fighting in Pride. Theres a hell of alot more to being a badass fighter than just having a 6 pack and looking ripped. Mark Hunt is one of the most fearless and well conditioned fighters on the planet, I know he doesnt look it but his fight record speaks for itself.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.

Well personally i think it's sad that fighters are put in the position of having to cycle steroids in order to be competitve. Having played rugby union to a reasonable level steroids were always a temptation as a way to fastrack moving up the grades with the possibility of making the pro's. I never did them and also never made the pro's but thats more about my laxidaisical attitude than anything. I'd be quite wary of using gear for a sustained period of time, the shitload of wwe wrestlers dieing early deaths to things healthy people don't have to worry about is a testament but i guess you know all this already. It must be quite an ego boost knowing that you could massacre 99% of the worlds population in hand to hand combat. I'm pretty big, like 100kg's plus and am in reasonable shape given that i hit the gym pretty regularly but I couldn't fight my way out of a paper bag really and it's kinda good knowing that because i can't fight that well i don't bother with it when i'm pissed or whatever as i know how shit i am at it. Good luck with your training and everything.

Thanks mate, I never did the roids till I turned pro. I studied them in university first. I always get bloodwork done before and after each cycle and cyle for 8-12 weeks. I stay away from all the highly toxic stuff like oxymethelone and only take dianabol for 3 weeks before switching to much milder compounds like winstrol or primobolan. Also use liver protectors/etc. Its a real can of worms...For an athlete, the benefits are undeniable-thats why in so many sports theres athletes testing positive. Surprising really, since there are ways to beat the tests if you know what compounds to use and for the right durations.

Im an "all or nothing" type of guy..either I give something 100% or not get into it-Never like to go halfway or do something halfhearted. As far as ego boost? lol!.. its like this-If u ever meet me you'll see Im a really laid back guy and have no attitude whatsoever. I get along with all people. I dont act the badman but, yeah, wherever I go, I never feel that anyone in the premesis could pose a serious threat to me in all honesty. I never start trouble but if it finds me then I dont let it go either-I make an example out of the guy who ever wants it at the time. I think its only fair to be treated with respect when you do the same to others and if someone deliberately offends you then its in my blood to have to humble them.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.
