Have any of you lads ever stayed at "mooks residence" and can confirm it is GF

In 2012 I have stayed a couple of times at Mooks, my overall experience is good and it is GF and discreet as well.

2. Mooks Pattaya

 

Another longstay option for a lower budget is Mooks ( Pattaya 3rd Road , close to Navin Mansion) which is actually not far from Foodland / Big C Extra ( 700m from Big C Extra) also.

I usually stay there when I'm in Patts as they had weekly deals for 7000 Baht (high season), clean rooms wih big fridge, microwave,

 

water boiler and even hot plate. Plates and other kitchen utensils are available upon request.

 

Access is per floor with key card and can be from the back of the building, this is very private also at night.

 

There is some noise at night from nearby(Thai) entertainment places but when you stay in a room at the back of the building behind the elevator this is bearable.

 

Bathroom with walk in shower is decent and spacious, the bedroom has a comfortable sofa, a small table and some chairs.

 

The balcony is as wide as the room and 2 people can sit there easy.

 

There is no pool or fitness room.

 

Free wifi Internet is available in the room and I found it quite fast and reliable, only every now and then you have to connect again via a webpage.

This place also can be booked via Agoda and booking.com, they even have their own booking page linked with Agoda !

 

Monthly deals are also possible although I don't see a page with the rates for that anymore on their website.

 

I recall these rates start at around 10-12 K Bath per month, excl. water and electricity charges.

 

Less food options around as with Luxe Residence, but if you like Indian food there is a big place called Spices 3 behind.

 

Not much baht buses around there but is not an issue if you use your own (rental) motorbike or motorbike taxi.

I have found it guest friendly, there is a security guard but they don't ask for ID cards.

 

Motorbike taxis are next to the building around the clock and there is also branch of Kasikorn Bank downstairs and a 7-11 shop on 3rd road at walking distance.

There is some noise at night from nearby(Thai) entertainment places

 

If I'm not fortunate enough to have a room at the back of the building, what time is the noise pumping out until???

The noise is the usual evening thing from 8pm-2am as I can recall.

Also be prepared for the odd Thai pickup that drives by late at night on 3rd road with the sound system full on, one time when I was staying at Mooks  there was a Thai guy with a pickup truck who came in the night time (7-8 pm) to impress his MB taxi friends with the new sound system in his car, he parked it at the South side of the building next to Kasikorn bank and opened the car stereo at full blast !

Another source of sound (and comedy) is the numerous tour buses driving and parking there mostly in afternoon and early evening; a lot of them bring Indian tour groups who come to eat at the Indian restaurant  behind Mooks.

The parking space next to the Indian place is quite narrow for manoeuvrings, I've witnessed it a couple of times myself how buses hit electricity poles/ fences etc while trying to park !

 

So the noise is bearable and not too extreme for Pattaya standards, but wear earplugs if you are a light sleeper !

I stayed there in Dec for 9 days. Its serviced apartment, helpfull staff, no problem with bringing back as many girls as you want. I would highly recommend it if not for the dinstance from WS. Its about 1 hour walking.... So be prapared to rent a bike or give a lot of money for taxi.
